Ebay - YOUR personal data they share (and sell I guess)
Bert51 replied to Constabulary's topic in Computer Help
I already had Facebook and Google on my radar, but now it looks like I need to add ebay. I signed out of Facebook a few years back and I no long use Google for searches, they only try to sell you stuff. Thanks Constabuary. Bert. -
Singer 16-188 help with timing, threading?
Bert51 replied to Hodgie77's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I was wondering how are you going setting up your 188. I other 16 manuals which show timing, even a 31 is also similar. Bert. -
Sadly you gentleman are making me drool, profusely. The body beautiful does not allow me to drink any of my favorite whiskies. Enjoy your malts and I will keep dreaming of them. Bert.

Is the thread coming off the spool evenly? If it's coming off unevenly, it could be one of the symptoms you have, sadly several things can cause this. Bert.

I have a similar machine, and I have found the thread has to go around the pulley tensioner (bottom tensioner)11/2 times to keep the tension on the thread. Here is a picture of my tension setup. Bert.

I found a Parts manual in my collection, but sadly it is to big to post here. If you would like it please message me.. Bert. -
It looks like you may have tried a test spray on the flywheel, if you put the cap next to the flywheel, I think it would be a perfect match. I know it will look real good when finished. Bert.

Australia Post strikes again., when are the going to learn and care about what we post. I sent some incorrect bobbins to a seller, cheap Chinese sold as Adler and I paid $45.00 for 6, so I sent them back to him, but he never received them and I lost my money, well Australia Post refunded me the Postage. Yes I had Tracking, Signature and I thought Insurance, but our local corner Post Office is owned by hard to understand people and they did not put the insurance on it. After being lead down the garden path telling me that the track number will find it, a cheque arrived in the mail about 3 months later and they did not even say "Sorry"t you parcel? Now I use Mailman at Officeworks. Bert.

Your right, of coarse. I have had motorbikes that are made in the US (not HD) and importing parts and accessories for more that 30 years and now I am doing the same for my machines. I had one local Bike shop ask me why I do not go their any more and I knew I would be hitting my head on a brick wall, so I just walked away. He did not understand how I was paying less then half his price to factory parts. The quality of the Chinese is not as good as Adler or Singer, but I can afford to replace them if the wear quicker then original, if they where available. Bert.

It's a shame the Servo like Pinto's pic is so pricey in Australia, I was going to put one on my 132K6, but but the time I paid postage, it was going to cost more then I paid for K6. I pulled the motor out and made sure the clutch movement was lubed and moving smoothly put it back and found it easier to use. Why are parts so over prices compared to other countries, I know we have a small population, but some of the prices are way over the top. Bert.

As I said earlier, Nice, very Nice. You have set it up well. You now own a classic piece of iron, most likely last another 60 plus years, before it needs another look at. Bert.

It look real nice, could you please show a few more photos when she's up and running. Bert.

Skipping stitches on 29K70 and Needles, Needles, Needles...
Bert51 replied to Snakeoil's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
When I first started sewing, I to had problems with missing stitches and like you I worked out just because the thread fits through the needle, does not mean it will sew smoothly. I found on this forum where some one put up a post about getting a meter of the thread you what to use and if the thread slides down when held on an angle it's okay to use, if it sticks, go up one size. Also known as the school of hard knocks. Bert. -
