Just up the road, shame I did not know before I made other arrangements for that weekend. Past through Echuca on Monday and I've been to Jenni's shed before, but not for leather. Bert.

I find it sad that people cannot not talk civically and sort out their problems, sometimes the problem will turnout to be insignificant if discussed civilly. But that is only my opinion. Bert.

Does this help or am I to late? Bert.

Looking for long stitch cylinder arms machine
Bert51 replied to TonyGreen3455's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I would go and see your local dealer and this time while you are talking have a piece of leather or two, like you will be sewing and try it out. That way you will see what it will do. Bert. -
Looking for long stitch cylinder arms machine
Bert51 replied to TonyGreen3455's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Tony, from memory the Adler 205 is the same as my 105 and it has an 8mm stitch in both directions. If you want anything longer you need to settle for a Singer 132K6, my does well over 10mm, but I have only sewn at 10mm, (through ply wood). Bert. -
Looking for long stitch cylinder arms machine

Tony, you might need to talk to other people about the Adler 205 and Juki 441, they might not be the Brutes they have be made out to be. I have an Adler 105 which is the forerunner of the Adler 205 and when I first got it I did all my leather and canvas work with it. Yes you can sew heavy thread with the tension cranked up as far as you can go or you can thread it with 60M (T50) and repair a granddaughters school bag, like I did the other day and when I was finished she could not tell me where I had fixed it. I think you will find these are very versatile machines. Bert. -
I think we all go though a phase where we buy cheap parts from ebay or amazon, I call this phase "School of Hardknocks", we all need to go through it, that way we learn to listen to others and buy from dealers like those who support and help us on this forum. I bet I have more rubbish parts in my bin then you have......................... Bert.

It would take her to long to find her mobile phone in there, Young ladies today only want what they can hold in one hand, eg. purse, 'cause they are holding the mobile to there ear with the other hand.. Bert. PS. Very nice bag, I bet some one out there would love to carry it.

I have been play with the internet before it was the internet and everyone was taken at face value, but now if you want a price on an item you have to give your name phone number, address, credit card number and the last time you used your bowels, just for a price. I still have a web site some where out there and I have turned off all non necessary functions on my phone and turn on my Navman when I need to use it. But I list my location here, okay you cannot pinpoint me, but if your coming for coffee, I'll give you my phone number as well, just in case you get lost. But if you do a name search on people who don't show location on forums like this, you can normally find the facebook page and learn more about them then you need to know. So I think JLSleather is spot on with his comments. Bert.

Thank you Aurita, I think kgg and dikman are on the mark, hope all is good now. Bert.

Do you have a picture of how the machine is threaded, please. Bert.

When I first got my Adler 105-6, the needle plate had been rebuilt by the previous owner and had a rather larger hole in the plate and I was not happy with the way the back looked. I found another needle plate on ebay for a Singer 45 with a smaller hole and found it looked some what better on the underside. I had a friend weld the hole up and re drill it with a smaller hole, but I made it to small, re drilled it a little larger and and although it did not look like hand stitching, it did look a lot better then it did. If you are using needle on the smaller side try using a needle plate with a smaller hole. Bert.

I have found with some spools with the thread nets, the nets can cause to much tension. I no longer fold my nets, as that can give the fuller spools to much tension. I use the small nets (12 to 16 cm) on thread up to 75 M (T40) and the larger net on on the heavier thread spools, specially the nylon spools that sit there and slowly unravel. I'm about to order another 10 mts of the later. Please don't do what I did the first time I got a 10 meter length, sat down and started cutting the net nearly the same length of the spool. thankfully I was use a high spool as my guide. Bert.

This will be the last time I give to the Big Charities this time, my heat goes out to some of these people and animals and to think some one miles away in a big office only thinking of their bonuses and not giving what was given to them to help, is not good. We lost our Red Cross shop, because it was not making enough money to pay head office mega bucks, but it helped a lot of people locally. Sadly I know of several towns that lost their Red Cross Charity Shops. I will be giving my donations to the Fire Fighter, from now on. Bert.

Dürkopp 18 Patcher Restoration - long journey...

Looks like you are being warned to stay away from it? Bert. -
Koalas look small and cuddly, but if you saw a large males fighting in the bush or the hear them screaming most of the night you might think like I do. They used to keep me awake most night when the males where looking after their girls, in the end we put 2 foot of tin half way up the truck to stop them killing our trees. Back to what we are here for, I am please you solved your problem easily and we did not confuse you in the process. Enjoy your sewing. Bert.
-
Don't worry, if we can't help you, we'll just confuse you like we are.

Well, talking of Crow eaters, I can't say much, we lived in Mt Gambier for a few years. Bert.

Central Vic, I'm a Queenslander by birth, but I don't want you to hold that against me.. Bert.

I thought you may have had a problem with the larger foot lifting high enough to clear your work. There a few of us in Oz, that could help if you are close enough, I'm down south of the Murray, just. Bert.
-
I don't think the dealer set this machine very well, I would hope all you would have to do is plug it in, sit down and start sew with very little adjusting of the thread. I would think they should have been more competent then what they appear to have been. Bert.
-
Or not lifting high enough to clear what you are sewing. Maybe a couple more picture may help us make better guesses? Bert.

I have all my knee lifters out as far as I can get them. I have one little overlocker that needs a longer lever, but sadly, no room to do it and can't get a foot peddle to work very well either. Bert.
-
Sadly I cannot draw a straight line, but try this before you go doing else. Loosen the adjusting nut and move the small lever in red forward, roughly as drawn, then you should be able to lift the foot easier. Bert.
-
I think you have the lever under the table on the knee lever in to far. You need it out as far as it will go to give you the leverage to move the lifter. Bert.
