Is it possible that the thread is not in it's correct path? Does the thread need to lock in the tensioner? Do you have the thread coming off the spool smoothly? Sorry for the silly questions, but there are several thing that can cause this problem. I had to change a spool today as for some reason I could not work put the thread would not come off the spool smoothly, causing a problem only when I was not expecting it to. Bert.

I normally use spray adhesive, but have been looking at the heat activated sheets, but have been concerned about making the leather go hard or warped. Bert.

I have used old drill bit to make awls, a little bit of work, but they seem to hole there edge nicely. Even go deep into fingers without very much effort at all, more careful now. Bert.

Do you have a birds nest under the work causing the lockup? Or as dikman asks, what is causing your lock up, would it be possible to give a little more information or a photo? Thanks, Bert.

I just had a quick look on the net and can find very little about the Adler 48, even Adler has nothing, http://sew24.blogspot.com/p/downloads.html I have an Adler 105-6 and if I can find any parts for it, I cannot afford them and god help you if you need Adler Australia to do anything on it. I did find an old ebay advert for this machine, it had the same photos, but it had no further information. The walking foot is why I looked at it on ebay, my 105 is not a walking foot, but as nearly everything that goes under the foot is glued, I don't have any problems with it. With a little luck, one or two of the forum Adler owners might be of more help then I am. Cheer, Bert.

I saw this machine on ebay and it looks a nice machine . It appears to be on a new table, but they have had a couple goes setting it up and hes got the motor nearly under the machine, I don't know what difference it would make, all my machines have the motor set further back from the machine. I also noticed holes in the table near the end of the cylinder arm and thought may they where going to set up something there. Also I do not know what type of servo motor it has, I have not heard of cAnAc-Uk servo's before. You might look to see if bobbin are readily available for it. Freight might be a problem, Qld to to South Australia could be pricey? Just my thoughts, Bert.

That's what I started to say, but it looks like the angle of the photo is playing tricks, I can see a part of the top tensioner guide. My top tensioner was missing when I first got mine, it took a while to work out why it would not sew correctly. Bert.

That has happened to me more then once, so now it's the first place I look when a machine is missing stitches. I brought some of that abrasive string and run that through the hole a few times and that normally fixes it. Bert.

Nah, not a quilt, she was making something for the kids, other wise I would have passed on it. Even with Professional written on it, it did not sew half as good as the 31K47 would have on the same material................ Bert.

When I got it all working as it should, the Plastic fantastic was helping by twisting with the pressure from the feet. And, but dad it does zigzag did nothing for me. But she was happy, so all's good, she got her sewing do and I got to spoil her kids while I was there. That's fair ain't it? Bert.

I thought it showed the K15 to be one of 9000 29's made in July/December 1903. Bert.

You could taper the straps down to inch at your hardware from inch and a half at the shoulders? Bert.

I found the needle was to far from the hook and picking up only a part of the thread and shredding it and wrapping it around the hook. If you check the hood with the needle down, the needle only needs to be close without hitting the hook. I put a piece of white paper behind the hook and needle so I could see how much gap there was. I had too much gap. There are two screws holding the hook, I think I loosened both, but left one firm and with a screw driver just moved it a little at the time, until the hook was nearly touching the needle. Then re-tightened the hook, checked it by hand to make sure it was sewing correctly, then tried it again with the motor. Sadly, this great little machine does not like real heavy thread and that is why I have a Singer 132K6 for. I hope this is some help for you. Bert.

The Juki 5550 is a high speed bottom feed light weight sewing machine. I have a Juki 555-6 and the only time I had any problem is when I tried to use Tkt 30 thread in it , the hook split the thread and tried to wrap it around the the outside of the hook. After I cleaned all the thread of, I found the timing was now out and had to re-set it. You need to check your timing and that you do not have a burr on your needle plate. These machines are solid as, but they are designed to sew light material at high speed and not leather and canvas. Yes I have sewn canvas and leather, but not as good as it should. Bert.

I don't know a lot about 29K's, but I do not think this part is the problem, as I don't think it rotates? I think it only lifts the foot? Could you post a couple photo's showing the problem or a little more info? Thanks, Bert.

What used to fascinate me as a kid was the bullock teams pulling big logs out of the bush, near our banana plantation, you could hear them coming for miles. Bert.

If I was to look for a noise in a machine, I would take off the drive belt and slowly turn it by hand until I find the noise, then I would start looking for where it is coming from. It could be like Brian said, a screw worked loose or a piece of lost thread that's found a new home or even the hook hitting the needle. But take your time and work your way through Wizcrafts list. My back is complaining and I have only been playing with a 29K58 and treadle base. Maybe I am just getting to old to drag these around. Thankfully the 132K6 is on wheels, just push it where I want it. Bert.

I remember my father using horses when I was young, I used to sit and watch him all day and I can still sit and watch them work today, shame we do not see them like we used to in Australia. I know there is still some working, but not like they used to be in my area. Bert.

If all the above checks out okay, check that your thread is coming off the spool smoothly and it's not getting caught any where. That has caught me before, all my thread stands are extra tall. Bert.
