  1. Not much call for handgun holsters in the UK apart from for CO2 or airsoft but thought i'd give it a try anyway. The leather used is 4.5mm-5mm... Total thickness around the edge around 9.5mm. It's not great, but reasonably happy for a 1st. The leather was way too thick to start any detail boning (or is it?)
  2. Welcome along ... That 'sculpture' (?) Looks amazing!
  3. I'll be honest and say IMO, yours looks much nicer and 'better' made. I like their designs but they seem very expensive items.
  4. I love the contrasty colours of the first bag - the style is a bit like satchels I saw on Colsen Keane's site.
  5. You can change that by clicking your name at the top of the screen and edit your profile.
  6. Welcome to the mine of information that is leatherworker.net
  7. Very good - clear and simple instructions.
  8. Tried it... It's chunky alright! Despite only having two layers, it's still feels very... 'Meaty' . 6 slots for cards and a single, full length part for notes. But no, i'm not posting pics because It's as rough as a badger's bum and I used some scrappy-looking veg tan...i'll keep it in the pocket to see if it softens up, but the indications are that 2.5mm is just too thick.
  9. My current wallet (mass produced, lined) is in tatters, so I want to make a new one. It will be made with unlined veg tan. But the thinnest I have is around 2 - 2.5mm... Is it reasonable to use such a thick leather, or will it be too 'cumbersome'? It will need a section for notes and around 8 cards.
  10. Must admit I favour the 'less is more' look myself.
  11. I tend to find the inside flesh side of an unlined belt almost burnish themselves through natural wear. Some Aussie Conditioner rubbed-in to the flesh seems to help, though.
  12. Are cuffs like this generally worn as a bracelet (i.e. a jewellery item) or do they sometimes have a utility use?
  13. Looks like they're used as a reinforcing hinge perhaps?
  14. Make sure the blade is well bedded within the haft - I had a similar problem for a bit.
  15. Set the image search filter to "line drawings"... Assuming Google search, search for 'penguin', then click on images. Then 'More tools', then 'Line drawing'.
  16. Do an original stormtrooper!
  17. Lovely work.
  18. Me too - the holes get elongated through use anyway, so this looks cool.
  19. I'd keep it as natural as possible. As the wedding matures, so will the beautiful colours.
  20. That's weird - I've just bought a set of larger punches, up to 3/4" and was wondering what to do with the large ones I won't use... I do now :D
  21. Hi folks, I just got a load of mostly very thick brown leather - Some very rigid and some nice and supple. Most of it is ideal for foot-sized projects, I suppose, so I was going to make myself a pair of mules/flip-flops/slippers (Not really sure what they'd be called!) for wearing around the house/garden. As I won't be walking far in them, do I really need any padding or rubber under the leather sole? I'm really thinking just rigid leather sole with a single strap over the top, stitched to sole...Maybe an insole on top for padding VERY basic. Anybody done something similar, hints, tips,,pictures etc?
  22. Why not mix up a small 50/50 bottle, put it aside someplace and re-post in a few years?
