    making a whip

The link given to the tutorial in the original post no longer works. Does anyone happen to have it and can post it here please?
  2. I've ordered some pricy kits from them and never charged a Customs fee. You're mileage may vary, as always.
  3. Goods Japan overcharges......by a LOT. http://www.leathercrafttools.com/ has much of the same stuff at much better prices and also cheaper shipping charges. I've been quite happy with their service and quality of their tools and materials when I've ordered from them. I've pretty much started ordering everything I can from them after being repeatedly disappointed by US sellers.
  4. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=49954 http://search.aol.com/aol/imageDetails?s_it=imageDetails&q=stichless+scandi+sheath&v_t=keyword_rollover&b=image%3Fquery%3Dstichless%2Bscandi%2Bsheath%26s_it%3Dkeyword_rollover%26oreq%3D5e91d1b3a0b3425e870bbbc52750d790&img=http%3A%2F%2Fi274.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fjj260%2Fjuntihko%2FKnives%2FStitchless%2520Sheath%2520Mk1%2FsP032Kopio.jpg&host=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.britishblades.com%2Fforums%2Fshowthread.php%3F123804-Stitchless-Scandi-Sheath-Mk-1&width=112&height=90&thumbUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fimages-partners-tbn.google.com%2Fimages%3Fq%3Dtbn%3AANd9GcSqrU5XDte97rRXQ4qL5wzqbLfQ8Bhzjr5AHY97X-RoDACRfByB90MU0Q&imgWidth=768&imgHeight=615&imgSize=40673&imgTitle=stichless+scandi+sheath
  5. Blanchard. You might check on Bruce Johnson's page (google it)...he has them for sale from time to time. I very highly doubt you're going to snap its blade.
  6. My plough gauge cuts 12oz like it was butter...you might want to look into getting one of those...
  7. I'd recommend calling them anyway. They may have other sizes they don't have on their website. I've ordered from them before and was very happy with their products and service.
  8. I sent you a PM with links to longer ("long" and "extra long") post caps and eyelets.
  9. The problem is if it's big enough to use for a watch strap, it isn't exactly "scrap"...those pieces can be used for inlays and things like that. I have a largish piece of ostrich, but it would cost more than it sounds like you want to spend on it. Good luck...
  10. I thought several people before pointed out that those Vergez-Blanchard wheels aren't that expensive. I guess he either didn't believe them or is hoping no one else remembers that.
  11. Anyone can copy these designs for their own personal use as long as they are not selling the items. Also, the terms "patent" and "copyright" are not the same thing and they are not interchangeable. If you go look at their website, the ONLY information they post about "protecting" is the actual content on their website. That's it. If anyone has questions about IP law, I highly recommend they speak to an actual, real IP attorney instead of listening to idle threats made by people on the Internet.

    Acrylic

You can't thin acrylic with oil because it's water-based.
  13. I bought my Blanchard plough gauge with two blades for $100 including shipping, so...
  14. Nope. I was going to try to figure it out myself so I could make some for Christmas gifts, but it takes me a while to draw them out, so probably not gonna happen.
  15. Those are called "pull-the-dot" snaps. Not to be confused with "DOT" snaps (manufacturer name).
  16. http://www.mcmaster.com/ Enter "Slotted Cup Point Set Screws" in the search box (without " marks) Could it be one of those?

    Makers Mark

Except he said in the original post that he doesn't really want to use plastic and that's all greyghost offers (delrin...same thing)....
  18. I'm not sure they would even know how to tie the knot in the original post. The ones in the link you posted are pretty rudimentary.
  19. I just make sure in my own sales sites to blatantly point out the myths that guy spews out and actual facts that denounce his garbage. Most of what he says is so wrong, it's embarrassing that he's actually putting out lies like that. You're right in that a lot of customers see that stuff he posts and his silly youtube videos, but I hope when they finally look at my items they will be able to see how much better they are than his stuff. I used to think their items were really nice.......that is, until I started making my own leathergoods. Now I know better.
  20. I think the "full grain is superior to top grain" propaganda is just marketing hooey put out by saddleback leather, in my opinion. I doubt any serious leatherworker pays any attention to "dave's" marketing verbiage......I know I don't.
  21. Goodsjapan charges a LOT more than leathercrafttools.com...on books and just about everything else.
  22. Looks remarkably similar to the Sailrite LS-1 to me. Not sure which machine the LS-1 is a clone of though. Not going to work well for leather other than very thin garment type leather or very thin veg tan. Sailrite makes a leather foot for it without teeth on the bottom to reduce marking the leather.
  23. Yeah, the one in Tim George's video is for cutting rounds first...he has another tool for lace...
