    Welcome to the forum. If you want higher quality and lower prices, you're going to have to pay that big shipping monster. Weaver has higher quality tools and supplies. They aren't really any cheaper than Tandy, but better stuff. As far as leather goes, look at the for sale sign in of this site. Some people have made some fine leathers available to us hobbyists pretty cheap. Good luck.

    Got my scrap today and it is nice stuff. Plenty if nice pieces for a few sheaths and maybe a holster or two. If you are new to leather working, this is a great opportunity to get some quality veg tan without buying large pieces. Thanks.

    Am I missing something? Is there something requiring power in the head? If not, can't you just swap out the motor for a standard 110v servo?

    That's a big ass honking wallet. I'm sure grandpa could swat a mugger with that thing. That has a lot going on in it. And maybe it's not perfect, but I'm sure you learned a lot. I applaud you for trying all the different techniques at once. Very ballsy. The edge paint looks good, I haven't ever tried it. And all your pockets look good. I also like the two tone brown, it works. Thanks for sharing.

    I was kind of wondering what age group are you in? You don't have to give your specific age, but if you would help me put perspective on who is talking, I would like it. I am 44 = old enough to know better, and starting to care.

    I would start out with two inexpensive books. The art of Handsewing and this one. You can get both of these books for about 40 bucks. These two books will give you a great head start on what and why you need certain tools. Good luck.
