  1. That is really nice looking work! I love the color as well.
  2. nice!

    Nothing new but

    two impressions, rotated stamp.
  4. Was going to suggest that one. I have one, it works well for me. But again, a lot of these tools are slightly different from one another, and one may fit your working techniques more than another, regardless of price.
  5. I have some tooling veg tan shoulder leather from Sedgwick that is fairly flexible, and I can't wait to try it on a project. The sample tooling I did on it came out very nice. You might see if they are still making it and get a sample. Mine is fairly heavy, I think 9 oz or so I think (3.5 mm?). I don't know if they have heavier.
  6. Been daydreaming about building one of these for a while now. Have some sketches started, so maybe in a few years? Nice work!

    Enjoy it

Nicely done, thanks for sharing! I finally know what the lining and pockets can look like for a piece that I tooled, lol.
  8. Very cool work. Easy to over engineer that, and I think you did the right amount!
  9. I have that book, I'll check out the technique. I think I referenced that book for the first set of handles I made, might be the same. For some reason my vol. 2 is not hanging out with vol's 1 and 3 right now... Heh, yea thats probable! At least I hope they do!
  10. Appreciate it! Thanks!... and uhm, yah. you saw that. lol. Had to get one special made just for this. Might not ever use it again, don't know tho! Thank you much. They are a bit of a challenge with some idiosyncrasies, I think after a couple it is easier. for sure the second handle was easier and came out better than the first. Still left a lot of room for improvement.
  11. For 8 years I've been telling myself I'll make one of these. Haven't done it yet. Kudos to you for doing one!
  12. So, had a request to replace the "leather" pieces off of a tote bag. As you can see, they were not really all leather, more like plastic coated split sections, with broken filler in the handle. So I cobbled up some replacement parts, and did a set of rolled handles. Not the best, but only the second set of rolled handles I have ever done. Think if I have to do another set, I have ideas for improvement, but should be functional for this purpose!
  13. I have that stamp. I have a real hard time running it straight. Yours looks like it came out better than any I have done with it!
  14. Nifty! Some of those could be used as necklace pendants, also. With a leather cord.
  15. http://www.shoedo.com/home.html https://www.zackwhite.com/Shoe-Supplies_c_497.html might be helpful.
  16. That dude looks like a challenge to do. Looks like you met it!
  17. Looks like a significant amount of finish on that wood if it isn't coated in a layer of plastic. Dead OP's murder scene with the blackened scissors weapon onsite appears to be unfinished or minimally finished wood, which would absorb stuff nicely. Although if he is still on this side of the daisies, he should be tempted to try your solution anyhow!
  18. What kind of leather are you using? (brand) I've not had vinegaroon bleed...but I don't do it very much anymore.
  19. Yes, acrylic dye is like paint. and resist is usually acrylic, so it would work with that. Pro dyes are alcohol/solvent based, and would tend to penetrate the acrylic resist pretty easily. There is a paint on/peel off type resist for dye, but I've never used it. Search this site you might find some info on it including the name.
  20. Don't worry about critiquing my work, I do it too. I agonized over the letter way too much, hence part of the reason for so many coats of paint. I just wasn't happy with it! Still wasn't, truth be told, but I had to throw in the towel and get it assembled!
