  1. Very nice! I think your stitching would benefit from the use of a pony. You can make your own for a couple bucks. Helps free up your hands, increase speed and allows you to get more even tension. Good video.
  2. It is clear now. You are clearly enjoying the journey you are on! I'm told my forefathers in Germany were shoe makers. Too bad I cannot interview them.
  3. Me like! Your thongs are cool and these are just super.
  4. Yes, that is what I use. Could go heavier but when loaded with cards it gets thick pretty quickly. Good luck!
  5. Bleeder knot info...http://www.deepwatertack.co.uk/html/bleed_knots.html Doesn't appear to be a classic bleed knot to me.

Nice! That handle will outlast you, your kids, their kids...
  7. I've had decent success with Eco Flow Leather Weld. You can put it on one side only but you need to keep it under pressure until it dries if you want it to last. If temporary until stitching, have you tried the double-sided tape? It is what I use on most everything lately. Not good if you want edges to stay stuck, or should I say not as good as adhesive. But for tacking pieces in place, perfect. No drying time. No mess either.

  9. My Tandy groover is excellent. When going around curves it just takes a steady hand and remember to go slowly. Use light pressure, you can always make multiple passes. Also, if a stitch groove is all you want, it can also be accomplished with a straight edge and bone folder or creaser. Anything that creates a depression or channel for the thread will help it "sit down". I prefer to cut the channel, but it isn't 100% necessary. There are also straight groovers that you run along a straight edge. For curves, run along a metal washer or something with a radius that matches your project.
  10. Yes, nice work and nice save!
  11. Great stuff, thanks for sharing! Photography is nice too. Love the highlighted initials. Can you please share your technique on the dark highlights? Not looking to copy, just intrigued is all.
  12. You might try carauba cream after it dries. Works good for me.
  13. Red Cent, that's some beautiful work!
  14. I'm sure she loves it, great job! And thanks for your service. Keep the projects coming.

Beautiful and unique. Definitely a one-of-a-kind piece. I also like the clasp. Happen to know where that can be had?
  17. I agree, nice article. And it references other sites where you can glean more info.
  18. Great potential and cool design. With your skills I am not following why the cutout for the inlay wasn't squared up. I agree some stiffener on the ostrich skin is in order. Still, I'd bet someone would be thrilled to have a nice, functional wallet even if it isn't up to your usual standards.
  19. Wrong holster, different movie. Here is a nice write-up...http://gunsoftheoldwest.com/2014/10/famous-walk-and-draw-rigs-hollywood/
  20. You are started! Do you have any local leatherworkers that you know from barrel racing? If so, reach out to them. Ask questions here. Check out the sub-forums such as Saddles and Tack. Finally, if there is a local supplier in your area, do they have classes? I started by having a specific need to make something, just a small item. That has grown into wallets, briefcases, etc. it has been fun, I've learned a lot and through this forum am learning more every day. Good luck to you!
  21. Wow! Very inspirational.
  22. Did you try scuffing up the surfaces first? When chemical adhesion is poor, mechanical adhesion is helpful.
  23. For folks doing volume work, that looks like a great solution. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Welcome! I've been as far NW as Bemidji, you anywhere near there? Minnesota is a beautiful state. Glad to have you on the forum.
