  1. the handle on the balance wheel is broken off. The stud for the handle from the balance wheel will have to be removed , made as well as the wood handle. glenn
  2. I believe the wing nut on the back that regulates the height of the foot walk is on high. Move it to the lowest walk position which is at the other end of the 5 notch mark and see if it drops the foot anymore. glenn
  3. That is a nice machine . H4 high lift, ,CLMNPN it has it all c class, leather machine, safety clutch, 4 motion drop feed , 6mm max. stitch length. If only it has the special 10mm stitch length!! $200.00 bucks a steal!!!!!
  4. All of these machines have vertical hooks. The needle thread passes under the bobbin case each time it goes around the hook. If there is any thread, lint, dirt, etc. under the hook, those items will stop it from going under the bobbin case. To remove the bobbin case basket, you must remove two or three little gib screws that hold the flat washer type ring (gib). It's function is to hold the bobbin case basket in the hook. The bobbin case basket has a machined ring on it that has to be rotated to remove it from the hook. Taking the throat plate out will help you get the bobbin case basket out since it has a little finger on it that fits in the small slot on the underside of the throat plate. Hope that helps. glenn
  5. Jerry, Send us a few pics of the back of the machine. We meaning Wiz, Constabulary or myself) can better tell you what to do once we see the back of the machine. glenn
  6. Might be the foot height adjustment in the back. If not assembled correctly, it can stay up. glenn
  7. I think that machine was renamed after Juki bought Nakajima. Not sure. I can't remember the number of the machine now. Anyone out know? glenn
  8. Also, I would see about getting the part made. They can 3D a part out of stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, copper, titanium and other metals today. Really quite amazing what can be built today with 3D printers. glenn
  9. Try Ralph's in Denver, Colorado. That bought a lot of discontinued parts that Singer was getting rid of. glenn
  10. Actually, the 205-374 preceded the 205-370. Adler came out with the 205-74 in 1985 when they introduced the machine. They made a lot of changes in the first 6 months. The new models were called 205-374. Adding the 3 to the last part of the model number meant it was walking foot with alternating pressers. When Durkopp bought Adler in the 1990's, the model number was changed to 205-370. In essence, all these machines are the same. glenn
  11. I did not get any answers that I could fin don the other posting. I am not a firstimer! shoepatcher
  12. Again, Anyone have any experience with THOR sewing machines? shoepatcher
  13. Black Dogg. Can I see some pics of your machine? I have 5 of them to restore. glenn
  14. The Juki 2810 is a copy of the Adler 867 with cost saving of about 25--33% over the cost of the Adler. What I have seen of it, great machine. Yet to sew on one but have looked at them at MJ Foley which is the largest Juki dealer in the US. Bigger machine , longer throat, higher lift, new bobbin winder system, central lubrication. New generation machine over the 1508 and the 2210. I believe if you get the 2810-7 which has the toys, cost is around $5,200.00. The Adler 867 with toys is over $7,000.00 You do the math. glenn
  15. Uwe is right. This is an Adler 220-76-73 which is a 30" single needle long arm. Great machine. Singer contracted with Adler to build the 144A305 which was a 220-76-73 with the Singer name and model number on it. These machines were $7,000.00 plus. A very good price today in America would be anything under $2,000.00 I have a 220-50-73 which is the 20" machine and it cost me $4,000.00 rebuilt head only in 1998. Great machines for sewing truck covers, outdoor furniture, tarps and canvas. Not to good for leather. They are built like tanks and better than the Singer 144W's.
  16. Anyone have experience with THOR sewing machines out of Texas??? glenn
  17. What parts are you looking for? I may have a source. glenn
  18. Plate may have to be custom made. Let me know if you need info on people that do this. Sorry for the late response. glenn
  19. Also, Look at the Durkopp Adler 768 which preceded the 868. they could sew up to #207 thread. glenn
  20. Having worked on most of them, the best shoepatcher made is the Claes. It has superior engineering and Claes has made shoepatchers since about 1869! They are not cheap but they go and go and go. A new Adler cost almost as much as a Claes. No one has tried to Clone the machine. If I was 20 years younger, I would have sent it to China to be knocked off. Great machine. Biggest drawback is the price. However, still a shoe patcher and there is know way it is worth $5000.00 for the head. Hell, an original Adler 205 head was about $5,000.00 and that was so much more machine both in sewing capacities and what was involved to manufacturer it. Claes is not built in large numbers and that is one reason they cost so much. If you are going to use shoepatchers a lot, look at the Claes. You will not be disappointed with the machine. glenn
  21. I believe the 29-4 does not have the front tooth cam gear that is bolted to the top shaft. It has the back half of the gear that the pitman arm fits in but not the forward section that the short shaft gear mates to drive the front mounted shaft that comes thru the hub. Some of the early 29K's had the front mounted shaft on certain models but not the 29-4. Changing means pulling the top shaft plus the bub will not mount to the casting because of a different face plate. glenn
  22. Contact Constabulary. He found a service manual for the Claes 8346 machine while getting me a machine. He sent me the manual but I made sure he made a copy for himself. First service manual I have seen for a Claes shoepatcher in over 30 years of working on machines. It is nice. glenn
  23. the pin and spring were used to keep the slide plate from coming completely out. No big deal. Singer used them as well on the 111W155.
