  1. To each there own style. I see nothing wrong a square end or English point or rounded. I’m sure it was done for efficiency purposes as much as it was done for not have to buy and sharpen a strap cutter.
  2. The joker would definitely steal that from you, what stitch did you use?
  3. You are an awfully flashy fella on the job site. Belt looks great!
  4. Here’s a quick one I whipped up for a buddies wife per her request as she doesn’t carry a purse much. Cards in the front folded cash in the back pocket.
  5. Great find, you should be able to find similar flat headed screws if needed at you local ace/true value/do it best hardware store. If not they can be found online. As for the split wood a little no expansion gorilla glue should do the trick or epoxy.
  6. Mattsburger beat me to the punch. If you look at the folds or stress points like where the pencils are, you get that lighter(brown) look vs the darker brown/Black color. It is tricky to glue unlike veg-tan especially gluing two oiled pieces together(they like to slide). Arcadia has a bunch and that’s where I got this from, I also have some from Springfield Leather.
  7. Yep worked finished carpentry for a couple years, built custom cabinets/builtins, stairs(apprentice) and dabbled in furniture. Built my whole bedroom suite and my whiskey cabinet. I also have a CDL and haul heavy equipment besides the fire department gig. One thing I’ve learned is to always have a trade and/or something else to fall back on.
  8. This is the way I prefer to do it and did it for years as a carpenter. Look at pics to get a basic idea and then design from there. I would go with style points on that flap.
  9. Glad you got it sharpened up. Would like to see your shot shell pouches.
  10. I have a 3200 and love the machine and have sewn 24-26oz of saddle skirt with it. I’ve run 138 or 207 thread through it with no problems. Just did a sketchbook cover and sewed through approximately 22oz at points with 138 thread with no issues at all. The flatbed attachment would’ve been nice to have but it’s not available for the stand I have. So I’ll probably make one.
  11. Thanks, first big piece on the cb3200 Thanks, wanted to do something different than the standard vertical holders and this seemed like a good solution. Thank, you lots learned during this one. I’m a fan off the pull up on this leather and the feel.
  12. The leather is a waxed pull up from Arcadia and the liner is from Springfield(pigskin) stitching is #138 at 8 on my cb3200.
  13. Drew up this pattern and cut it out yesterday. Cut all the leather and did the gluing and sewing today.
  14. Thanks for all the ideas, I’ll add them to the list of things I’ve already got.
  15. Been working on building my portfolio of things I can make and have patterns for as I start down the path of making this craft a part time job. It has been fun to create my own designs and figure out seam allowances. I’ve got a couple small wallets, field notes cover, boxes, dopp bag, shotgun shell holder, purses, radio straps w/pouch, glove holder and still to come is a small clutch bag, messenger bag, duffle bag. Anything else I should add to my list.
