Why do so many US places have the power cables running above ground where in most of Europe they are all buried from source to homes apart from remote farms and the like Not talking about the main grid system but cables running along streets on poles

That Dragon is made up of millions of small people like you and me, each tying to earn a buck. they did not elect the government, it is forced upon them. some of the goods are poor quality, Most are high quality with good quality control. buy the chap version and you may well get stung, buy the middle price version and you should be very happy. Same with many products from anywhere around the world

Have you tried a larger needle for #92 thread like size 19 or 20, size 19 is the recommended size size 18 is a bit small

Many people think the product sells itself, but first class presentation like this can add that little extra touch of class, and shows the maker cares about the product so the buyer should also care for it

Leathershop Fundraiser, asking for help
chrisash replied to Campleathergoods's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
But when you look at the charities that save hundreds if not thousands of lives, or just make a big difference to people like bringing tape water to a village in Arica or other third world countries, yet people give to a individual who has the means and equipment to make a living yet cries out for help- 28 replies

Looking to make a messenger bag out or either waterproof canvas (PVC) or waxed canvas, Lots of information about drop in lining on the web , but little about how the professionals fit their linings so they are not loose and baggy. anyone glued linings onto the canvas or other methods of fixing. it looks like 100% of books on bags suggest the drop in type and variations but that does not appear to be how the expensive canvas bag makers do it, which is the methods that i am after Thanks folk

How about Vergez Blanchard awls they may fit, quite a lot of variations

Welcome to the forum, leatherwork is a great hobby and for some a great profession, sure you will enjoy it, my only suggestion is only buy tools when you actually need them, it's very easy to buy things you think you may need which stay in a draw unused for years which tends to get expensive

Very nice love the blue colour Are you selling the patterns or the finished items? Maybe you should advertise your site in your signature -
Thanks Folker Many thanks, no mention of it on the manuals, don't think I would ever have thought of that, I did not fully understand your comment on the other post, thanks again for all your great advice you have given me on this machine, even got the binder top work

Looking for a Singer 111G right side slide plate the versions on College sewing and Sew Europe are a bit short top to bottom 64.4mm compared to 64.7mm original, and slide to freely in the tracks whilst the original needs a bit of finger pressure to move any suggestions for other UK sellers or anyone with a scrap machine willing to part with a original part
-
I guess the large number of people on this forum who use sewing machines have old machines from the popular makes that are well over 50 years old and many over 100 years old with little or no problems. thats not to say all are 100% good buys, must most appear to be and good checks on purchase and advice on this forum should be able to help you choose a appropriate second-hand model Look at Wiz post on this forum to know what to look for
-
You would be pushing a very old machine to its extreme's, not really designed for that size leather
-
It does give you the option for having both set up with different size threads to make life easier, if your lucky one may even stretch up to size 207 thread or just top and 92 on bobbin
-
Your best bet is the read Wiz post o this forum at It sounds like any upholstery weight machine would be worth looking at unless you see your future with heavy leather

No doubt a silly question but are you keeping the button pushed down all the time you are adjusting the machine and not letting go once it engages into the slot, You need to keep it constantly engaged unit fully adjusted -
Important Customs news for UK/Eu leatherworkers
chrisash replied to fredk's topic in Marketing and Advertising
As with this treaty, the framework was the treaty but both sides were able to make adjustments for difficulties not foreseen in the treaty. just like many other treaties. In this case there is obvious differences in the interpretation and the EU will not negotiate them. the sole purpose is to stop goods going to Eire from Northern Ireland. The 800 new items has been mentioned by the relevant minister but not yet published to my knowledge. For one supermarket truck transiting from Great Britain mainland to Northern Ireland now needs 750 pages on average of paperwork plus vets checks on all meat products Whilst we have the nuclear option to use article 16 of the treaty to tear it up, we have not yet used it but tried continually to negotiate a settlement that is fair to Northern Ireland
