    Horse Buggy Completed

Thank you, for sharing a beautifully restored piece of history that almost got away.
  4. I have bought several veg tan hides from them and have used the HO also. I have always got better than I expected for the price. You need to contact them, with your issues. They are a company that truly want's to get it right.
  5. Your tooling has really gone to the next level. Your floral flow is about as good as it gets. Your right about the depth on this one it looks very 3-D. Great job!
  6. What brand and color antique stain did you use? I use Fiebing's antique saddle tan and med brown. I really like that lighter color. Really nice work!
  7. Now that is TOP DRAWER! What a beautiful design, kudo's.
  8. Hi Paul, I did the same thing for our men's ministry. I made a journal for everyone (20), with the name and number of their favorite verse. I ordered a journal leather bundle from Springfield Leather. At the time it was on sale for around 70.00. I still have about half of the leather left. It was described as oil tanned leather, I found it to be more of just a regular chrome tan. They now sell a smaller journal makers bundle for around 45.00. The leather was not firm like a veg tan or oil tan, it was soft and pliable. Even so it made some very nice journals. The type of journal I made is the "field journal" style. Springfield has several templates that they sell. I bought the field journal template for 5.00. I hope this was in some way a help, God bless.
  9. Tandy has sent out an email with the store locations that are now open for business. The email also stated that they were closing eight location permanently, but did not disclose which stores. It looks like they are at least trying to survive. I wish them the best, I hope they make it.
  10. Not knowing your location is going to hinder the best source for Barge products. I will assume that you are in the USA. Try Springfield , Weaver, and Tandy. Weaver has the best selection and price . From 2oz up to a gallon.
  11. I have been dying leather since the seventies, and I have never put dye on wet leather, no issues yet!
  12. Fiebing's medium brown stain is close to the color in your picture. Super shene will work but Fiebing's Pro Resist will give you better results. You could use a dye but you would have to paint it on around the lettering. It is more work and time consuming. If I were you, I would go the stain route, after you put the resist on and let it dry. Good luck, share a picture or two when you finish.
  13. Looks great! What are your thoughts on the Angelus brand of paints. I have never used them. I'm about to purchase leather and the only brand of paint, dyes, etc is Angelus. I kind of wanted to avoid having to pay shipping from several places.
  14. 10.00 for the holder plus 5.00 per coaster. Of course you would not sell the holder separate, just the breaking down each item. If you want to offer free shipping (IMHO just a gimmick but people like it) add an extra 1.00 per coaster to cover the cost. Frodo if you don't already have one I would get a stamp for American Gun Owners or something similar so it would not limit you to just your state. You have a great idea, it may be out there, but I have not seen any with the written out 2nd amendment. I would get it on Etsy and Ebay, your gonna sell them. Thanks for the post, it's Sat and I need coffee and to get out in the shop. Your idea's are inspiring my friend.
  15. I will definitely give it a try. Thanks for your time!
  16. Hi Frodo, did you dip dye the mahogany over the random black. It looks awesome compared to my attempts at marbling. Thanks for the post.
  17. Chuck, you came up with a really nice pattern, it looks awesome. How many coats and how thick did you put on the oil? I can't get mine to look as good as you have here. Those grips have me drooling.
  18. I just followed the video using water and Fiebing pro oil dye. But thanks for the info, I will have to try it out and see what happens.
  19. Corter leather has a video on a tie dye wallet . Using water and oil dye . I have tried it and it does work, but it has a steep learning curve to get it right. I have done it three times and have adjusted the ratio of water to dye and still need to keep adjusting the dye content. It uses a boat load of dye I don't know why the video calls it tie dye , it definitely is a marble effect..
  20. Corkscrew, you did an amazing job on the sheath! I love the color choice, is that a metallic dye that you used for both colors. Sergey has the most unique stamps you will not find anywhere else. I have a few on my Christmas list. Thanks for the inspiring post and God bless.
  21. I use a Garland No. 3 rawhide mallet. I had a hand and wrist injury in my past , so I can't use a very heavy mallet. This one seems to be the perfect fit that won't wear out my wrist. I tool and punch with it and it does the job. Can't ask for more.
  22. Thanks for posting, that is TOO FUNNY!

  24. Fred, I bet you are right, you will need to sign in to ebay USA, or whatever the tag might be.
