  1. Thanks guys for the kind words of encouragement. I appreciate it.
  2. Yeah it always seems you learn a wealth of information/tips after you make your 1st one. It was also setup with a 3mm stitch, but I changed it to 5mm stitching. You can see it in the corners. I'm over happy being the 1st one. Thanks for the encouragement & advice.
  3. Nothing much, but a lil something off the bench. Its what I'm calling a Minimalists money clip wallet. Learned a couple things on this 1, but I believe it turned out fine. Wished I would of stitched it all the way around. Next one I make will be calfskin lined, for sure. Heres a couple pics. Let me know your thoughts.
  4. Thanks Klara. I'm thinking about having this guy make me a single/half head knife. They sure are pretty in Damascus.
  5. Thanks I appreciate the link. I'll see if they got any left.
  6. Very beautiful leather. I had a feeling it might have been bridle leather. It has got such a nice deep color.
  7. Yeah that color is growing on me. @TomE what color would that 1st guitar strap be. If that is dye, I gotta get some. Thanks.
  8. Can you basketweave it with seperate leather strips/wide lace to save the project. Then just have 2 long stitch lines, 1 on the left & 1 on the right? Is that a possibility?
  9. Yeah I know I could make this style of knife, I do dabble in making knives. Lol but sometimes you would just rather buy a knife from someone else. I found a few custom makers of that style of knife, I see that they call this style of knife a pattern knife. It just looks handy. I think I'll look around & see what else I can find, before I have a custom knife made. Cause I know a handmade 1 off custom knife will be $300+ dollars Chartermade Knives makes a similar knife, that I keep going back & looking at. Thanks everyone, I appreciate the help.
  10. Yeah TomE I know Dozier knives are Nice & I'll have to see if I can find 1 for sale. It's the closest thing I've seen to a Barnsley knife. I'm sure that's a $300 knife, but good knives, cost good money. Lol I might just buy a small head knife & cut 1 side of the head knife off. Or I could make 1 from scratch. Thanks again.
  11. Thanks everyone, ya J.H. leather is where I robbed the picture from. With it being in the UK is why I never could find it for sale. I sure hope I can get 1. I ordered a knife just like the rocky mountain knife. But I really hope to get a Barnsley knife.
  12. Lmao I thought it looked like the bird off of Snoopy!!! Any recommendations on what brand to buy or research? Thanks. I appreciate it.
  13. Guys & gals does this leather knife has a special name &/or model? I really think this style of leather knife would be beneficial to me & would like to acquire 1. Or is this like a 1 off custom leather knife that's going to cost me a weeks worth of wages. Lol Any & all help will be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Great info. Much appreciated. I'll use this some day. Thanks.
  15. Yeah I figured it might be wasted time, if it wasnt a rock solid & a precise fabricated piece. Lol my buddy does have a mill & lathe, & I bet I could make a metal rein rounder, but at a cost of a $210 tool. I would have way more man hours than a guy cares to admit. I would like to find a video of a craftsman using a rein rounder. Just so I could see the process in action.
  16. Yeah I got a bunch of cocobolo boards 1" & thicker. I bet cocobolo would be a good candidate for a homemade tool like that. Plus it can be polished to a high shine. Maybe that's something I'll try, just to see if it could be done & look good. Thanks.
  17. Thanks, @TomE I was just wondering if using a rein rounder is the correct way to make a round handle? I'm sure there is other ways, but reading & seeing pics of the leather masterclass for round reins looked interesting & something I think I would like to learn to do.
  18. Guys & gals I'm curious if a rein rounder is something I should buy? I have not got into making any type of horse tack stuff, but I see I will once the word gets out about my leather work. Is there any other uses for that tool? Could it be used to make bag or purse handles? Any other uses I'm not even thinking about? Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.
  19. Tandy sells piping leather & it's a 1-2oz leather. It looks to me they used rope as the piping, then sewed the 1-2oz leather around the rope. I myself have yet to try & make a rolled leather handle, but I think it could be done with 2-3oz leather.
  20. Thanks WalterF, was the oak leaf & acorn tooling pattern in with the sling template? I've been thinking of ordering some of his patterns. Very nice work. Just love the sandals. You just got to post a pic when both of them are finished.
  21. Thanks, I went ahead & ordered 2 veg tan calfskin's, 1 veg tan sheepskin & 1 veg tan goat skin. It gives me or the customer another option to pick from.
  22. Yeah I notice the vids I was watching were quite old & he has changed his process up a bit. Refined I guess I should say. His saddle soap/ water burnishing on edges with canvas is pretty amazing too.
  23. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I appreciate it. Yeah I've come to the conclusion the more practice the better the outcome. I got another idea I'm going to try on the butterfly next. Lol stay tuned & will see if its success or failure. If it's a failure I consider it a lesson learned.
  24. Beautiful work! I love the slings. Almost reminds me of a Don Gonzales pattern. Love the custom birkenstock sandal work as well. Very nice quality stuff coming off you work bend. Just awesome.
