Lubrication on newer "dry head" machines
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to R8R's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
That's actually a good question, I'm not really sure. I covered the owners and engineers books and there is nothing as to the grease, part number, nor a maintenance procedure. -
Thanks for sharing, let me know how it's going with the new Juki. Post projects here as well.

Timing a zig zag machine
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to Hockeymender's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
This is the very best I could find on this subject. I really like the timing instructions the needle bar height setting leaves a bit to be desired. -

That's one (very good) example of this. CLICK HERE for a YouTube video I made up of a very unique Singer machine. -
Timing a zig zag machine
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to Hockeymender's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Once again, excellent post UWE. Trick question; what sewing mechanism would prevent the hook timing being split, or, in other words, prevent the needle from coming in high on one side and low on the other side? The answer is a bit more common on house hold type machines, but once in a while it's on an industrial. -
Timing a zig zag machine
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to Hockeymender's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Center the needle, for sure to time the hook. I'm on the hunt, but here are some of the books that use this same hook and would be timed the same. First machine I thought of was an Adler 98 that uses this hook, but they don't have much on this, as usual. Maybe one of these other brands has a book with more information? GREAT information from UWE, as usual, and great incite on the needle scarf; that is so important, as I've seen in some cases where the scarf is long or shorter from brand to brand. All in the same 135X7 needle system used here in this case for the 107W, 143W -
Scan of a Consew 206RB-3 manual
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to Jer's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
It's called "Compound Feed Walking Foot Machines", 'Maintenance-Repair-Troubleshooting' Yes, it is copyrighted. As far as books or manuals go, Consew does not have anything of substance beyond this book, or thier owners manuals for these machines. The absolute best book I've seen by far is Seiko's STH-8BLD-3 Owners. Most comprehensive book I have, everything applies to the -3 that you'll read in this book. Again, Juki has two types, the old type (that the Ferdco 2000 Pro parts book ships with with index number 12 as a gear) and new type with rubber O ring seen above. Now, a third type is introduced with larger black ring as seen on the Ferdco. This cannot be interchanged, the inside friction wheels are different sizes.
-
Yup, Mitsubishi LU-105, large bobbin walking foot with reverse. Old world Japanese quality. Great machine.
-
Jersey Fire Fighter, I'm working on this issue for sure 100 percent, and was unaware of this bobbin winder O ring variation. The problem is that the Ferdco Pro 2000 uses the Juki parts list with no corrections or updates. The rubber O Ring from Juki will not work as a direct replacement. I have a quantity on order and when I have them you'll have one sent out to you, but this time the correct one. Juki has two variations, and now we are looking at a third from Ferdco.

Finally Took The Plunge Juki 1541s
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to AdamPCain's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks for the very kind comments and for mentioning my Mom. It's always a two way street, and Adam was a pleasure to deal with as well. I'll pass the good word on to her. She's been doing this stuff since the 70's and has always been a big part of what we do here. Thanks again to the leatherworker.net community.- 16 replies

Reliable brand machines
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to lovetocreate's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
My thinking as well, and I'm sure they are referring to the Relaible SewQuiet 6000 digital brushless servo motor. We'll put this 6000SQ on any machine people want as long as the motor is correct for the machine. with the Sync installed, you can ALWAYS go in and cancel it out in the motor's on board parameter settings. -

Bernina 217n-08
Gregg From Keystone Sewing replied to LadyDragonfly's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I know quite a bit about this one. This was sold by both Bernina and Durkopp, both as a model 217. A lot of sailmakers like this for light seaming work. Very high quality, all parts are available now from IMCA Global who is now bringing this back strong. I've been able to get parts from them from time to time. CLICK HERE for Imca Global's product web page, with lots of links and downloads for this machine. Bernina 217 Owners book.pdf
