  1. Floor dry compounds or kitty liter are supposed to work too. Need to stir up the mess to keep bringing fresh material against the leather surface a few times each day. Tom
  2. Billfold here used to be just for a few bills, paper money. Wallet added a coin pocket and photo sleeves which have been taken over by credit cards. Tom
  3. @Pib moved to leather sewing machines. You'll get more response here. Tom
  4. There are other threads about greasing cork clutch pads so they don't grab. If you search for them, you should be able to find the type of grease recommended. Tom
  5. Please update your profile with your location. It really helps to know if you are next door, or the other side of the world. It helps get info that is meaningful to you as well. Tom Edit: I see your IP address places you in France, so your reply above was more meaningful than your location.
  6. 277 thread is too heavy for a Techsew 2700. Max bobbin is 138. Can use 207 for the needle. If you want to continue with 277 thread, you will need to go to a heavier machine. Each dealer can give you the specs for thread, foot lift, max thickness, etc. Pick your closest dealer from the banner ads and take some examples of work you want to sew and go see them. At least call and talk to them describing what you want to do. Tom
  7. Scroll up three or four posts and there is a PDF posted for you to download directly. Tom
  8. Rod has retired from tree making I believe due to arthritis in his hands. He has a website with lots of tree information at http://www.rodnikkel.com/content/ Tom
  9. Versions of web browsers keep changing, so you will often see something slightly different from time to time. But the basic premise still stands. Copy the URL from the page you want to display and paste it into your post. When copying, the whole link needs to be highlighted. Tom
  10. Resizing photos to post on leatherworker.net There are several pieces of software and methods you may use to resize photos: An Online site http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ or another website for batch resizing http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ Download and use a free program called Irfanview for your PC https://www.irfanview.com/ Download and use FastStone Photo Resizer http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm On the iPad use an app called Image Size On many SmartPhones, you can set the size of photo the camera takes In MS Outlook, you can email photos to yourself and set the max size. It will then resize photos before sending and you can then use those photos to post. And if you search the web, you will find many more methods to accomplish the same thing. For most photos to be posted on the web, you can use a size of 800 x 600 pixels and have plenty of resolution to show what you want to show. At that resolution, you can post hundreds of photos in a single post if you want to. Please avoid the use of 3rd party hosting sites to post a link due to problems with the various sites policies where they block hosting, and due to the fact that if you delete, move, or change permissions, the link goes dead resulting in broken links and useless posts. Tom
  11. You need to resize the photos so they fit within the sites constraints. 12. And when you change anything in your photobucket account, move, delete, or change permissions, the links all get broken. Then the posts become useless. You can see lots of broken links on this forum where that has happened. Please resize and post here. You can still space them out as you wish between text. Tom
  13. @Lindy Moved to "Leather Sewing Machines". You'll get help here better than in help wanted. Help wanted is like the classified ads in a newspaper. Also all posts in Help Wanted require moderator's approval before others can see them. Tom
  14. If this is only happening after you turn a corner, there are two things to watch for. 1. Lifting the presser foot too high releases the top tension leading to loose stitching and sometimes to a birds nest on the bottom. 2. Make sure the needle has risen far enough that the hook was able to grab the loop. Turning the object before the hook has caught the loop may result in a dropped stitch. Tom
  15. IP address resolves to US wireless. Upstate often refers to upstate New York. @Londonfog It is a good idea to identify the area you are from so you can get the best help that is available. Vague references don't help. This site has members from all over the world. Tom
  16. Fuses are based on the amperage, not on the voltage. If the motor amperage is say 5 amps, then you may need a 10 amp fuse to handle the inrush current which can be up to 7 times the running current. If 10 amp won't last, then get a 10 amp slow blow fuse that will handle the starting current better. Tom
  17. Originally, quills were all died with naturally sourced colours from berries, etc. Raspberries, blueberries, dandelion for yellow, tea, coffee, etc. No problem with combustible fumes, and smell is a lot better for most. Have fun. Tom
  18. Merged both threads rather than having 2 going at the same time with some replying to one, and some to the other. Tom
  19. You know you are under-pricing when the buyer is willing to pay 2 to 3 times the cost of the item, just for shipping! Tom
  20. See http://www.techsew.com/machinery/industrial-sewing-machines/cylinder-machines/techsew-2600-narrow-cylinder-leather-industrial-sewing-machine.html for more info. Tom
  21. I assume this is Canadian $ and no shipping? Tom
  22. Please address your queries to @jayker2002 the OP. Tom
  23. If the OP @jpounders95 doesn't get back with something in a couple days, I'll give it a go. I'm what you might call "out of office" for a few days now. Tom
  24. Definitely! By inspection, metres or cm or mm just won't yield the correct size at all. USA is still stuck on feet, inches, gallons, etc. Then in Canada, it depends on when you went to school, or if you had any engineering related jobs. Some of us can quickly change between British and SI units. As for paper sizes, we (USA and Canada) are still using British units for the most part, thus you see 8.5 x 11 (letter), 8.5 x 14 (legal), and 11 x 17 (tabloid) as common sizes. Tom
