YIPPEE!!!!! (MY FIRST KNIFE SHEATH)
Rayban replied to jbird's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Hope this helps. First picture, front panel on the left, back panel with belt loop on right.Second pic, shown how they are sewn together. I used tiny little scraps, hope you can make sense out of it. You can still attach retainer strap like you did before.P.S. don't forget to skive a little b4 you sew.... -

Nice job for your first go JBIRD...the bass is great! Bring over a 6 of Bud Light and I'll show you how to make the back panel and the belt loop from one continuous piece of leather. -

My wife asked me if I was planning on straightening up my shop area (Garage) before the kids came over for Thanksgiving...you know what that means....so I did, and she even commented on how nice and orderly it looked...nothing like yours Bruce, mind you......so while my grand-daughter was here she asked me if I would make her a simple little bracelet, so I did. When I was done with it, the shop looked like I'm used to it looking.....

Well that's cool...so let me know when they come out with a basket weave gun and compressor, I'll be all over that one!!

I believe that a lot of peeps think that a better swivel knife will make them a better swivel knifer...a better round knife will make them a better cutter, etc......that's like saying better Sheridan stamping tools will make them better Sheridan carvers.....nonsense, right? I think so..... Better tools and more of them is not a short-cut to fine leather work.....takes practice, and lots of it.

Hi Chris....I'm always surprised to hear that people in Europe are into the Western gun leather, reenactor stuff.....I never even heard of Texas Ranger Reenactors here in the States....I'd be intereted in that....I'd like to be an Apache!! Hope to see some pictures of your work here soon....and welcome!!

Books on historic gunleather
Rayban replied to badger's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
badger...after readin Packin Iron again, I can't see how you would need any other book for historical reference. Most of that book covers the real deal type gun leather, and only devotes a few pages to the Hollywood types. You'll see..... -
Would sheepskin be good for lining knife sheaths? If so, I could use a boat load of 6" square size. THANKS!!

Hey, I thought I recognized that makers mark!! Looking good Tom!! -
I know this is somewhat off-topic but thought I'd offer to my friends b4 I posted them else where....anyway, I have them from 1992 to current...and they must go....no reasonable offer refused...I'm moving and they're not going with me. They will fit into 3 or 4 11 x 17 boxes, so shipping will be up there...how bout you pay for shipping (or come get em) and trade me something leathery..... I live in SE Michigan.
-
Don..I didn't recognize you without your cowboy hat on!! Great lookin holster!!
-
You don't have to be a lawyer to know that university logos are trademarked, therefor, shouldn't be copied. You don't have to be a lawyer to have common sense either.
-
quick answer: yes. Is is copy righted, trade mark showing?? No....? It's yours.
-
Yep, I heard the same thing about G10 also, but neither one has affected me at all....I make sure to wash it down with beer, maybe that's the ticket.
