  1. I think part of the attraction of disposable blades is the avoidance of sharpening. I use both disposable and knives I sharpen myself but I never found the need to sharpen a new disposable blade.
  2. I don't think the quality of the cuts has anything to do with the blade. Those are blades from an injector razor and my experience has been that they are plenty sharp enough to make a nice cut in leather.

They are pretty easy to make but the wood for the last one I made cost as much as I could have bought one for...granted it was "nice" wood...but still...
  4. Check out the Tumbleweed Mining Company in Bisbee, Arizona.
  5. I use a CAD program and a 3D printer to make custom curve cutting guides. They teach CAD and 3D printing in most high schools. It is very useful for a multitude of things.

  7. Good post.
  8. I buy what I need for each project series from Buckle Guy; it arrives in a couple of days and the hardware is top quality.
  9. I use rifle sling hardware on the straps for my guitar and banjo cases. They work great!
  10. Those unvented heaters end up producing a lot of carbon dioxide and water. That's usually not a problem but my shop is pretty air tight and the water ended up condensing on any exposed metal in my shop rusting it.
  11. I have a Campbell Randall which is made to use waxed thread. I'm using 004 size needles.
  12. Most of my sewing, both machine and hand, is done with 0.6mm Ritza Tiger thread. For hand stitching I use the smallest John James harness needles.
  13. Will the 441 clones run waxed thread like the Tiger thread?
  14. One thing I do on a repair like this is take a few hand stitching needles and use them to line up the existing holes before I begin resewing. It usually only takes three or four needles. I leave the needles in place while I turn the sewing machine over by hand removing them, one by one as each needle approaches the sewing machine foot.
  15. I especially like the belt. Very nice fade to reddish brown.
  16. That's a nice looking pair of chaps.
  17. My clients (few and far between) are way less critical than I am. They all want less quality to match their price point but I'm not interested in degrading my quality, I'm trying to improve it! If I make something that I think I could have done better I just give it away.
  18. Nice looking bags.
  19. An excellent suggestion. Make your design unique and your craftsmanship and leather and hardware quality better.
  20. https://www.libertyleathergoods.com/types-of-leather/ That was a good article as well.
