You might try some counter top manufacturers. The sink cut's out are usually smaller. Sometimes when they cut off edges they are a few inches wide and various lengths and are free scraps. They don't have perfect sides but I find they work well for stamping, etc. in leather working and don't weigh as much. Might be something you could find and the weight wouldn't be to heavy for the two wheeled camp carts for hauling to the area you are working in from the parking lot.

How to get your products to sell well

Thank you for all the time and effort and the generosity of sharing your experiences and knowledge. -
I had some very stuck parts on a Pfaff 145 I've been restoring as I find parts. I used PB Blaster, time, and some heat to get the parts to finally loosen up enough to get them apart without damaging them. I would apply the PB Blaster let it sit for a while then apply some heat (from a blow (hair) dryer and later a paint stripper gun set on low) gently try and pry up the stuck piece and repeat. Over time the parts came apart as the PB Blaster worked farther and farther between the stuck parts. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Blaster-11-oz-The-Original-PB-Penetrant-16-PB/205178591 https://www.amazon.com/Blaster-16-PB-Penetrating-Catalyst-11-Ounces/dp/B000I2079E some quick info.

How to make leather goods videos
Scoutmom103 replied to RockyAussie's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I love your video's and all the information that you share. Not sure that I'll ever be doing more production type of work. I do love all the ways that you create what you need or ways to improve the process and the production process. Then I do love hardware stores and go on many bunny trails when I am in them. My Dad looks at ways to make what he needs from common products, etc. -

Help a guy out with his new skiving machine!

I only have a few pics and they aren't great. From what I can see, it probably doesn't have suction. Thanks for the link to the post. -
Help a guy out with his new skiving machine!
Scoutmom103 replied to YinTx's topic in Leather Machinery
I'm very interested in this thread and the suction funnel. I'm scheduled to pick up a Fortschritt (Has 2136 with Germany on a Tag, could be a inventory tag) in Mid January. It's being stored in a warehouse until I am traveling a couple of hours from the warehouse, so I can't get any measurements at this time. I will have to remove the skiver from the worktable to fit it in my Outback so I'll be able to get lots of measurements once I get it home. You do amazing work with the ways you come up with solutions to problems and ways to improve production and use of machines and processes. Thank you for being so willing to share and utilize those skills for others. -
Luggage Tag
Scoutmom103 replied to Sperrier's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I have done a few luggage tags out of chrome tan and burnished the edges of the window. I found putting the leather on a small piece of marble/granite (I get cast offs from a counter top company's scrap bin) that has a straight edge to hold it while I burnish it has helped. I can apply pressure to hold it down on the marble/granite while using my other hand with the burnishing implement.
