    I had a stuck bobbin case assembly. I used PB Blaster, heat and then unwaxed dental floss to literally floss between the stuck parts to loosen the gunk that was binding the parts. I went slowly and just kept at it over days to not harm the parts with heat or force.

    I don't have experience with lasers. I wonder if the cloths used to wipe over the foil after hot embossing might work.

    If you have a Tandy Leather Store near you, they frequently have an open table for people to come in and do work in their store. At my local Tandy that includes being able to use some of the tools and equipment, i.e. the splitter.
