  1. Thats a good idea. Its been a long time since I needed one but I remember you could get electric powered baby bottle warmers. Maybe you/me/we could pick one up cheap?
  2. That is weely gwate !
  3. I've recently taken to using this hook blade in my Stanley knife. I find it is great for rough-out cutting of pattern pieces from a large hide, to get more manageable sized pieces for proper trimming Frodo brought our attention to them back in April
  4. Doing a catch-up The 16mm KAM head covers a 15mm snap base nicely, but the KAM stem is loose in the snap tube. It will need gluing on

    nice blade

In my almost favourite box-cutter type knife Great for rough-out cutting of pattern pieces from a large hide, to get more manageable sized pieces for proper trimming
  6. A test; These letters are about 6 or 7mm high. About the size the ones you have. Then I used an ordinary writing pen with gold gel ink to just write inside the letters
  7. Mostly it might be but not always. My chickens, raised for eating, were omnivores and enjoyed eating slugs and snails in the vegetable patch. The hens did as well and we avoided eating their eggs for about 4 days after they'd had a feast. Fish eat other fish to grow
  8. Try this pattern; Crafting7_web_DocHol.pdf
  9. Really very most excellent ! I can envisage you getting orders for this combo, especially that knife
  10. Here 'vegan leather' is PVC plastic, aka 'leathercloth'
  11. We don't know your location so we don't know what terminology you'll understand best. But I think you may be in UK or Europe? Get some different grades of 'wet & dry' abrasive paper, available from a car accessory/parts shop, eg Halfords, costs about 60p/£1 per sheet. Get 320, 600, 800, 1200 Glue strips of these to lolly sticks (available The Works for about £1 per packet) use these on the bevels of the chisel teeth/prongs, working from 320 to 1200. But also do all four of the sides of the teeth/prongs. Spend time doing this. A couple of hours or less, not just a minute or two You should be able to get the chisels really sharp, sharp enough that with a very light pressure they will cut slots into a sheet of writhing paper and, a personal thing to me; I don't like that sort of mallet. I gave mine away. I prefer a similar one but it has an 'ordinary' shape with flat round faces. Like this one; https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Carving-Hammer-Leathercraft-Cowhide/dp/B07H8BH9JR/ref=pd_rhf_d_dp_s_pd_sbs_rvi_sccl_2_13/143-2905049-6470749?pd_rd_w=VK8cg&content-id=amzn1.sym.a089f039-4dde-401a-9041-8b534ae99e65&pf_rd_p=a089f039-4dde-401a-9041-8b534ae99e65&pf_rd_r=ZGVW9JPVPPPCMSQJG7YJ&pd_rd_wg=Vg0YA&pd_rd_r=c2c5f3fb-02a8-4177-8940-f75a10c8369e&pd_rd_i=B07H8BH9JR&psc=1 I find I can give a better whack with it than the other
  12. I would call that firearm 'cap & ball' and I associate 'powder & ball ' with a flintlock firearm
  13. No, its not normal. Unless you are trying to go through very thick leather Have you sharpened and polished the chisel teeth?
  14. Thank you
  15. Leave the shotgun shells empty and put your ceegars in them, have waterproof strike-anywhere matches in one though so ya can light up
  16. No guys. If you write @Northmount, or any other person's name he should get a notification that he has been mentioned in a thread and his presence is required It doesn't work for me either. Not on here nor on other forums which use it
  17. can ya eat them? are their hides any good? We don't have crocs. gators, bears, nuffin like that, so yesterday I bought, from an English ebay seller, a bag of small sized antler points. About 1.2kg, or about 2lb 10oz. Small points, maybe well over 100 of them. I'll count them later. Cost me nearly £32. Ordered yesterday morning at 06.44 and I received them 12.10 today ! As usual, I have a plan*; I'll maybe make 'look-a-like' Crocodile Dundee / Lightning Jack hat bands using the antler points instead of teeth * only about 40% of my plans actually become reality edit to add; 190* useful sized antler points, another 51 of very small tips, only suitable for loop stoppers or small buttons. That's about 17p (about 20c) each just counting the goods uns * thats a lot of Crocodile Dundee hat bands!
  18. $10 ? that's cheap. I've seen them in men's fashion shops for as much as £50. Not only card filler but also that plasticky smooth finish. No.1 son was going to buy one at £35 but asked me first about them. I made him a decent belt
  19. I've bought several acrylic and hdpe templates off ebay from Chinese sellers. The patterns are grand. Most even have stitching holes punched / drilled in them so you/I can mark the stitching, saves a bit of time for hand sewing
  20. I never heard that name. Looked it up and found that its a Coypu, as known here. It became an 'invasion' species here but afaik the small colony here has been wiped out
  21. All I can say, is . . . WoW! There must be a lot of very careful work in them In the top photo one holster has its skirt out of the way. What way have you got the skirt loop affixed that you can do that?
  22. I've ordered a set of the Fingers. They should be with me about the middle of next week but we are having postal worker strikes here right now and that's causing delivery delays
  23. Here's 3 minutes 33 seconds you'll never get back
  24. You've inspired me into thunking thinks What about these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400563729483?epid=1305077329&hash=item5d4375744b:g:bPYAAOSwrmRbzeGg&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoNbG092tejfdHeoMgxm6VPMHiPmuBF%2FhZP8KDMc5P5L3yARheTxFQZh2%2FyHsF4%2BCl5nbtYEQbElmaybtbHrF7Chh9Gn%2FKxq%2BjhAPYMiI2rCPFTlHosQzmwfZAsVO7MECbN46MIZQ3vdzHugfsku%2B2EKCtO379qNKdhbn9gd%2BWCjphQU%2F0kfNafAQOOfq99Vki0XyAoMu1FKA00gTRZuARts%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8KMjMjfYA I might do a hat band with these for Halloween edited to add; I need to make a decent hat first ! !
  25. My main hate is the myth that 'ready rivets' are not strong and will pull apart easily. Not so in my 22 years of experience Sewing with a sewing machine is not proper leather working/crafting & sewing machine sewing is not as good as hand sewing. Proper hand sewing can only be done using a hog's bristle Brass buckles (or other brass hardware) will make the leather rot If I/you/we make a historical replica very neat and tidy, with good sewing, neat edges, good carving or stamping, its not 'real' - the ancients, the Greeks, Romans, Corinthians, Chinese, Mongolians, Vikings, Persians, Medieval Europeans, Victorian age Europeans & Americans . . . . . . never made things as good as that, they didn't know how to Chrome tanned leather will cause cancer to anyone who uses a lot of it, either as a leather crafter or a wearer Chrome tanned leather takes hundreds of years to decompose and it pollutes the environment with heavy metals (chromium)
