  1. Um, y'all moved to MN. You know...Hubert Horatio Humphrey...Jesse Ventura...Al Franken... In the words of the Reverend in Blazing Saddles..."Yer on yer own!"
  2. Nice! Sanch is a high-tech guru! Oh, and nice holster, too. Great job on the logo.
  3. Personally, I like between 30 and 45 degrees. If you use too little, it looks like you tried to do it level, and didn't quite get it right. I've seen pictures on this forum of just about everything though. Some of us like to consider the cant of a holster when deciding. Something like a belt or checkbook cover, etc., it wouldn't matter. (I guess the thing is to use the same angle for the entire piece, though!)
  4. I'm guessing a machine with a long throat, but I don't have a machine, so I'm guessing!
  5. " I have a nice stash of useless leather that only gets bigger and bigger" Or, like Edison said: "I have not failed 1000 times, I have successfully found 1000 ways to not make a light bulb." I look at my scrap pile and think, "wow, I sure learned a LOT from that one!" nice video!
  6. I have to agree with JLS, That Ostrich really makes that pop!
  7. I wish my first one looked that good! I really like the background color on that holster.
  8. That dog is developing a serious leather fetish! First a 3" collar, now a harness. Lucky dog. Waiting for a pic of him wearing the collar. Nick-name will be "Spike".
  9. Thanks, but we've already got one! http://www.golakehavasu.com/about-us/london_bridge1.aspx
  10. Thanks, but the only link that works is the last one, which doesn't look anything like the other links. I tried to change the others to match the first part of the one that works, but to no avail. What I'd like to see is how the belt loop works. I can't really tell from the side view in your original post. (I could wing it, but I'd like to see how you actually did it! Oh, and the back of my holsters are never as nice as the front, either! Thanks! Jeff
  11. Or, put a couple of layers of resist on the letters, then just stain/dye the rest of the piece.
  12. It's not a fault, it's a feature. It allows you to see what you're stamping without your hand getting in the way. Now EVERYBODY will want one!
  13. It turns out, coming up with a pattern with that flap is mind bending experience! I think I've got it, time will tell. I needed a new challenge.
  14. Nice work~ I also like the smaller stamp. I don't have one of those in .45, but my Single Six would look good in a holster like that! I might have to start one for it today. Do you have a pic of the back of the holster?
  15. nailed it! 2 posts didn't hurt to call it, either.
  16. You're right. I forgot about that! I have been spraying satin sheen and other stuff, but the Resolene did leave bubbles and circles! I can't believe I forgot about that. Good thing you all were here to smack me up the side of the head. Now I remember when I stopped using resolene, and why! I did finally get rid of the circles, but only after a lot of buffing and a layer of something other than resolene...and more buffing.
  17. I have seen a lot of posts about USMC black, none of it good. Also, try spraying the Resolene on, then there is no rubbing. After it dried you can buff it but as it's dry, it won't take off the dye.
  18. Yes, you've improved! The red ones are excellent. Where u at in Colorado?
  19. Nice work, Matt! If I make some black holsters, I'd have to make a black gun belt. Oh well, I gotta do what I gotta do.
  20. Welcome aboard! Looking good so far. I learn at least 3 things everytime I do a new project. Often a LOT more than 3 things.
  21. Thanks for the tips, guys! The thread was the first braided cord I've used. It was a bear with the awl I had available. A lot of plier usage on the thick leather. I imagine a larger awl and needle would have helped a lot.
  22. Interesting, I'll be trying the computer fonts idea. Thanks!
  23. I know. I'm awfully hard on myself. Or so says my trophy wife! It's just that my last holster was so much better, I feel like I'm backsliding bigtime. But like I said, I learned a lot! So it was a roaring success.
  24. I so wanted to go, for the instructional seminars. Not this year though. Maybe next year after I retire.
