  1. Really good use of exotics man, I'm diggin' your work.
  2. Looks good. I've thought about getting some of that embossed gator and seeing things like this I'm really running out of excuses.
  3. Yeah, if only my beginner stuff looked like that. Hell....if only my current stuff looked that good. Keep at it, it looks great!
  4. Clever take on a minimalist wallet. I too like the look and appreciate your clean work.
  5. Great video Chief, thanks for posting it. Simple. I never knew it was that easy. I had a few snake skins that were basically turned into snake rawhide through the years. If I'd have only known...
  6. Or position some of the hangers close enough so that they can support some of the tools. Drill some holes in the handles if big enough and add some rope/cord/string and hang them that way. I don't have peg board as you can see so I've tapped in some nails and hang stuff on them.
  7. Yeah, that is really nice work, I agree. I know Fiebings has black and several shades of brown and cordovan. Also, Tandy has their Eco-Flo antique gels but they don't like to be resisted very well at all.
  8. Yep, glue a backer to it. It'll keep the screw from backing off as well.
  9. Oh yes then, that'll be totally doable then, far easier that way. Also, that sheath with the back piece and the retaining strap has the retaining strap set far too high to be safe. Set yours lower. If the knife bounces out, a strap that high allows for a lot more blade to be exposed and ups the chance of a cut where a lower strap keeps the likelihood of the blade bouncing out and exposing blade far less. It is far safer with a lower strap.
  10. Really nice holsters! You do some good work Welcome to the forum!
  11. Good work on both, how's your hand after all the backgrounding? I think the eagle would make a great American style tattoo as well.
  12. This is a tough one for sure. I'm thinking maybe it could be wet formed but getting it in and out would be tough if you don't have anything to hold onto due to the handle being mostly covered up. Also, it may look a bit different than anything I've ever seen. I agree with a few of the other folks, may need to go back to him and let him know it is more of the knife's decision what the sheath will end up being. Did he say why he wants it covered? Maybe there is a different way of giving him what he wants without a sheath. Maybe a hybrid sheath/pouch or something? Make a pouch with a scabbard in the bottom that the blade will rest in but have ample coverage and the ability to pull the knife when needed? Anyway, good luck and let us know what you come up with
  13. I forgot about you asking how to seal it. What'd you end up doing? Looks like good work by the way and well, the falconry is just awesome!
  14. So, what are you shooting for in the look of the edges and the amount of work/materials you use @canonitr? If you are wanting to avoid the shiny look, then you can just sand them using a higher grit sandpaper. If you are wanting shiny, hit them with a burnisher of some sort, even a piece of sanded wood will work. The whole point in finishing edges is to get the corners of the leather rounded so they don't get fluffy from knocking into things throughout their lifetime and to also close off the edge from moisture penetration as much as possible. I don't know what does that better than burnishing or painting but as long as those things are occurring, your edges can look however you want them to. Also, oils usually make getting a burnish tougher but may help seal the edge against moisture. You don't need gum trag or toconole or anything, water works pretty well on its own. Soft and fluffy rags aren't the best for burnishing I find, maybe for using after you get the burnish perhaps. Personally, I like how yours look a lot. As long as that is what you were shooting for. They look neat and clean.
