  1. Man, that sucks. I hope they have scruples and send everything back and that you get what you paid for. If they don't I have no heartburn in you smearing them as far as the eye can see. I loathe cheats and thieves; the least you can do is spread the word so others can be aware of their treachery.
  2. Also, the butt contact area darkening with use would add a ton of character I think. It isn't like it is poop or anything. Worst case scenario some sweat. The rest would be wear from the sit bones which is where I think the character would come from.
  3. You did it again @Rolandranch! Really good looking work Sir!
  4. I think it has to depend on what you are making as well. Straight lines and such, gluing seems like its easier for me but like others have mentioned, when you are needing to finesse a curved stitch line or something similar where it is nice to have some on the fly adjustments made, then not having glue is preferable. Reading all the responses, it seems like we're not really definitively answering your question because there are too many potential things that can keep gluing all the time, or not, from being a cut and dried solution. You gotta figure out when you need to and when not to. You said you are in the leather industry so I'm guessing you are beyond hobbyist and should likely look at bottom line as a driver in which case you need to decide where using it vs not using it makes production faster and easier or adds some robustness to the piece that stitching alone doesn't. Gluing isn't just a sewing aid, that crap (rubber cement, tanner's bond, e.g.) is strong as hell. I've torn leather trying to separate it on occasion.
  5. Looks pretty good! The oak leaf looks really nice and capping the edges looks classy and will keep them from delaminating better than a burnished edge I imagine. I don't know how to help you with your bunching though.
  6. lol Mrs. Munky neither. Ever.
  7. Looks great! I have yet to line a wallet yet. Was thinking pigskin since it is super thin. That looks great though.
  8. I think it looks pretty cool wider than a "conventional" cat collar. Your model seems to be pretty amenable to it.
  9. I was wondering about that too. How does the belly come out of that sheath without cutting the hell out of that sheath?
  10. Everything about that is awesome. Your customer is going to love it.
  11. Looks as good as any aid template I've ever seen @Stetson912. Kudos for making your own!
  12. I don't claim to be a lot of things I likely am just because it'll do an injustice to the folks that really are those things. I make stuff out of leather.
  13. I'm centrally located 100 miles from Nashville or Birmingham Tandy. I usually end up ordering offline lately. I may go through a side a year so I'm not too upset about a little shipping and unless Tandy is having a sale, it's usually about the same cost with way better leather (Hermann Oak) for online orders through other suppliers. If there is something local I haven't found it. I know there are a few leather stores, one manufacturer and one that basically sells biker clothes, but no supplier to my knowledge. I was going to suggest a thrift shop for an old vest to use, good thinking ;-)
  14. You just sew it in. Hem it anywhere an edge will be exposed and sew it to the leather from there. Are you using a pattern or just shooting from the hip?
  15. Clean and simple is hard to beat @Mattsbagger. Having a product that sells a good amount is a sweet bonus.
  16. Exceptional work, color choice, stitching, stamping, and all. The knife is awesome and the sheath rises to meet it. You did VERY well. I love how your antiquing on the stamping pops on the dangler, that is super cool.
  17. Every once in a while, you read a post in a forum and it makes sense somewhere deep inside your brain. Thanks for this thread.
  18. More killer work @immiketoo! Great cause too, I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
  19. Simple? SImply perfect maybe. Great looking work!
  20. That is an amazing bit of work on the sheath and knife. So much about the sheath is cool; the use of color and stitching and the applique work. It really is ridiculous how nice the whole assembly is.
  21. Pretty! I have a belt blank that has been intimidating me for a while that I really need to try and make my own pretty out of.
