on being back to work. I took about a 20 year break and started up again last winter. Talk about rusty and my slight essential tremors back when I quit have done exactly what I was told they would do. They have gotten worse, much worse. With the help of a little pill and taking my time I have gotten rid of most of the rust and am enjoying my hobby again.

Nothing from Frodo. Should we all join together and sing "in the Sweet Bye And Bye"? I once did black on a carpet. After my hair grew back I decided to use a plastic office chair mat under my work chair.

Great work and the customer is always right.

Nice on both the sheath and knife.

Great work and a novel idea. Having packed a revolver on my hip many a mile I want my spare ammo some place than on top of the gun though.

Beautiful work, Chuck.

How about this Embroidered Jacket?
doubleh replied to ElliotKennedy's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Boy, tough bunch on this. It's excellent work if that is your thing and should transfer easily to garment weight leather. I have to say though that I have never, ever, seen anyone wear something like that except the CW singers of yesteryear.- 12 replies

Another "pretty darn good"job. Your mom should love it.

First off, nice belt. I used to ride Harleys but the only thing I ever made was a sissy bar bag with the HD Eagle emblem on it. It's still around here somewhere, stiff as a board from being rained on a lot. I used to have a visor magnifier to use over my glasses when doing anything close up. When cataracts went away in favor of man made lenses all I need now is 2X readers and good lighting. Brush tip: Hobby Lobby has very small artist's brushes that work very well for intricate dye work. I have a good supply as I dallied in acrylic painting for a time. I could do it fairly well but never managed to fall in love with it so----left over brushes and I have a lifetime supply..

Excellent work, Mr. Gibson. I am an odd duck I suppose as I can't find any love for the round knife even though I have tried.

I have a full size round knife that just remains in a box because I cannot make myself like it. My wife, the quilter, gave me an extra rotary knife she had and it is excellent on straight cuts. I have accumulated a variety of knives but the one most used is one I made from a heavy duty Exacto knife handle that I broke the original handle off the blade holder and replaced with a piece of wooden dowel that I shaped into a man sized handle. You can use a variety of different shaped blades if needed and the blades sharpen and strop just like a regular knife. Scaples are reasonably cheap and I am thinking of trying some of those just to see how well they will do.

This is my first time to see it. All I can say is WOW, that's unusual and very nice.

Ah, bull riding, one of the dumber things a person can compete in. I have a brother-in- law that was a rough and tough bull rider in his young years and he has been paying the price for years. He has had multiple surgeries on both his ankles and now both have been fused solid. He even learned how to ride a wheel chair for sometime but is now able to hobble along a little bit. Got another that was bronc rider and he is in about as bad condition plus he had his head busted all to pieces once.

I would do the plasti-dip. It's quick, easy to grip, and easily redone if dinged.

Looks great, both the holster and grips.

Yes, but when you are straddling a horse the sun is mostly on you upper legs, not so much down around where the fringe is on the pictured chaps. Leather is HOT in the summer and damn cold in the winter, no getting around it. I see it as a fad. I live in cowboy country although I don't see any anymore except the youngsters parked at a cafe with their horses standing in a hot covered trailer while they wear their spurs inside while eating. I never realised a dining chair is so difficult to control.
-
Certainly different but nice. If I stare at the top one for a bit my eyes want to cross.

Although you did a nice job Dwight is right. I don't keep up with the well dressed cowboy, real or wanna-be, these days but fringe just looks silly on a guy IMO.

Years ago the local bootmaker's wife refinished ratty looking old cowboy boots. I don't know exactly what the deglazing agent was but she wore a paint respirator for that step and it was most likely acetone. After dying she would reglaze them using an air brush but I don't know what she used as I stayed away from that part of the shop while she was working because of the fumes. It was amazing how she could restore them. You might search for bootmaker forums if there are any. There are still some custom makers still left and that would most likely be your best source of information on this subject. Out of curiosity I did a quick search. it seems bootmaker has changed in meaning and you get a bunch of things dealing with computers. I added "cowboy" and got a bunch of places to buy them. Sorry for wasting your time.

Schofield Holsters and Money Belt
doubleh replied to JWheeler331's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I am not a fan of Schofield revolvers but that certainly a nice rig to carry them in.
