  1. I have no idea how this is done but it looks good to me. The Zuni's and the state of NM got into a flap about the use of the sun sign several years ago. I guess everything is cool now as the state is still using it.

    New holster.

The customer is always right---even if it irks you. As I have not done customers in a long, long time I only do things to please ME.
  3. So the twins have a cousin in the Bowie? It's nice too. This is the first time I have ever heard cap and ball guns referred to as ball and powder but will be the first to admit I haven't heard everything.

    I made a hat

I like it although it would be too hot for me to wear except in the dead of what we call winter.
  5. Thanks to all and after a belt for me and a holster for a Ruger Wrangler the rust is getting quite a bit thinner. I recently picked up a nice old three screw BlackHawk and it could use a holster.
  6. Cool. I like it all. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it's a fun day. I have a three year old great grand daughter that would claim the spider as her own. My wife made a small pillow with a halloween spider just last week and the kid grabbed it and wanted to take it home the minute she saw it. Real spiders are an entirely different thing for her.
  7. It is available again from Tandy but it is an acrylic finish now, not the neat lac of old. I have most of an old quart of what replaced neat lac and it seems to be identical to the discontinued stuff and it is no longer available.
  8. That is what I call a welt. I have no idea if that is the correct term. Spine sounds OK to me. Spacer would work too.

It IS a single action revolver. You can pull on the trigger all day long but until you cock the hammer ain't nothing gonna happen.
  10. Nice. I wonder how it would stand up being kept in the freezer. That is where I store my mugs.
  11. That is nice. I won't let my wife see it. She is a purse and shoe junky and would want one.
  12. I have settled on Herman's Oak and have a supplier pretty close if I want pick it out plus he ships. I quit Tandy long before they went broke. Recently I purchased a premium veg tan belt blank to see if the quality was any better from the newer company than in the old days. Unfortunately it isn't and I can get Herman's Oak for the same price. I have no connection with the company and don't even know the owner's name but I would like to put in a plug for S&D Trading Company in Lubbock, TX. It's a small one man shop and he has been in business for many, many years.

I can understand that but at this point in life I find something elevated to sit on. I prefer the seat in my jeep. Getting up off the ground is a chore anymore.
  14. Looks great to me but you might consider inside pockets. My wife, the shoe and purse lover, insists on pockets in her purses and considering all the stuff she packs around I can see why it would need to be separated to some extent.
  15. I like the scene but agree with using light color for the belly. I have caught a lot of bass over the years and never seen one with a dark belly.
  16. Weasel words to keep from admitting they are selling junk. I have been using the same awl from back in the early seventies with one blade change over the years to punch holes and I have punched thru 4 layers of 8-9 oz. veg tan leather with it. Now in my dotage I drill the really thick things with a 1/16" drill bit before using the awl which reduces the effort a lot.

No, and if you look very closely you can see the end of the barrel in the picture. I should have made the holster a tiny bit longer. I prefer open toe holsters to let any trash fall through.

    New holster.

I finished this up first of the week. 8/9 ounce very old Hermans' oak that I had laying around, Holster pattern by me, tooling pattern from Al Stholman's holster making book with a little space filler by me, horsehide lined. and hand stitched. It's a right hand cross draw and will fit Ruger's wrangler or single six revolver.
  19. I agree with chuck, very nice.
  20. Nice holsters and the wrong side out version should be easy on the gun's finish. Personally I would have done no tooling on it.
  21. No way to prove it but I think both buckles mentioned in the OP probably came out of the same door of a factory in China.
