  1. So basically they object to eating meat but happy to polute the world slowley killing the entire animal and human population
  2. Not knowing anything about you and assuming someone had told you to use veg tan and you wrongly thought they told you vegan, your reply is a insult to someone who tried to assist, maybe you could learn to write a more detailed question in future
  3. I guess cow leather is Vegan as they only eat grass, but what you should be looking for is Vegtable Tanned leather called Veg Tan often made by tanning with the bark of Oak or other tree bark You need different thickness for different products
  4. I used Carpet spray, the tin is used by carpet fitters to stick carpet or underlay to the floor, did not seep through using polyester/cotton mix onto veg tan Only needed to spray the veg tan side with yellow tape over edges not requiring to be stuck
  5. Is there much call for Holsters in Greece, I thought they were tight on arm's control like most of the EU
  6. Can they for instance make a basket weave with gentle 3D progress from shallow to high levels of impressions onto a embossing wheel like Tandy or Bunkhouse seen here https://www.shop.bunkhousetools.com/Embossing-Wheels_c3.htm This is what i am trying to make
  7. Thanks Sam thats a useful software. not exactly what i wanted but gives great results for other uses in the future This Youtube shows what it can do
  8. Thanks DJ but looks like propriatery software from that firm, but thanks anyway
  9. I have brought a few items from Kathy at Artisan and she seems a nice lady and very helpfull. Unfortunatly she had to close down for a couple of months due to illness but back up operational now My orders were all dispatched the same day as ordered and a vegg tan belt blank was first class leather suitable for tooling / stamping
  10. Hi No I have seen this one unfortunatly it only uses shapes that are built in to get the effect What i want to do is use a design with a .STL format which can be imported into Tinkercad and have that wraped around the cylinder The Youtube and my text book only show how to do it with tinkercad shapes like above or Text Other 3D software might do it but outside my price range apart from maybe the free sketchup software
  11. riceived a sample of Soffian0 metallic bronze today 1.2-1.4mm from A&A Crack & sons at £4.11 per sq ft nice and soft
  12. Thants a great patena, I think leather bags, always looks better with a bit of use and the die not being 100% cover also adds to the look
  13. Is it possible to make a 3d Embossing wheel using a STL file of say a dog onto a embossing wheel I can see how you make the cylinder and how you could make a text wheel, but no idea on a 3D stl file or any other way to do it Basically it would have to fit around the wheel and be negative i presume I do have Corel X8 as well as tinkercad if that helps though not a expert on either, but getting a 3D printer "Ender3" in a couple of weeks
  14. My question is with the end of the zip so low down, what happens in the rain especialy if you have to put the bag down, looks a good chance of the zip edge wicking up the water, other than that a nice looking bag but not in my price range
  15. Not 100% sure but thought it was sedgwick that i looked up and they had a 5 skin minimum order at over £2000 so only wanted to deal with wholesale and a report on Google search states they failed due to lack of sales, what our US guys would say a "Catch 22 situation"
  16. Try here https://www.artisanleather.co.uk/handbag-purse-wallet-fittings.html or ETSY.com
  17. Matt did you see the post about Sedwick leather calling in the administrators
  18. Sedgwick as well, that will leave a big gap if no white knight buys them
  19. In England many prices are the same as USA dollars but in Pounds so $100= £100 plus vat, exchange rate Pound = $1.30 on average

  23. I guess resoline is worth a trial or any other sealer failing that then i guess a rubber type surface on the body side
  24. You may also find this of use, originally by wiz Singer 29 stitch length adjustment The Singer 29-4 models are going on a hundred years old now and the parts that drive the stitch length wear out over time. Here is a list of things you can check out to see what is causing the short stitches. Lift the pressor foot lever to the raised position and lower the stitch regulator all the way down, then tighten it in back Lift the pressor foot lever and see if you can wiggle the foot forward and backward more than 1/16 inch either way Feel the bottom of the pressor foot to see if the teeth are still viable Tighten the pressure spring along the back of the machine to exert more downward pressure Loosen the pressure spring in case it was too tight Check the throat plate cover for burs or gouges that might grab the leather as you try to advance it Make sure the bobbin case tension allows the thread to flow freely, but with some tension. If too tight the stitches may be pulled short from the bobbin thread. Check the top tension to make sure it isn't so tight that it drags the work forward against the foot action. Any of those things can affect the stitch length, especially if the top tension spring is too loose, or the teeth are worn off the bottom of the foot. Too much thread tension can shorten the stitches by fighting against the foot action. But, the most common problem with hundred year old patchers is a worn out stitch regulator puck inside the rotating pressor foot assembly, where it is attached to the bottom of the head. When the needle moves up the mechanism lowers the butterfly housing, causing a puck to pivot inside the housing. It is the amount of downward pivoting that determines the maximum stitch length. If you have lowered the regulator and set it firmly on the back of the two rails that are part of the foot assembly and the tensions are all decent, but the stitches are very short, the puck is probably worn out inside the butterfly housing. You may be able to get replacement parts from Bob Kovar, at Toledo Industrial Sewing Machines. Otherwise, disassemble the head of the patcher and unscrew the foot mechanism. Send the moving ring and the housing it revolves in to a machinist to have some bronze weld added to it and shaped to minimize slack without binding. I did this on two old patchers I owned and restored the full stitch length to them. Edited March 30, 2010 by Wizcrafts Quote
