  1. make your self a skiver! if you can make a blade you can make a skiver.
  2. Thanks ! gonna have to check it out.
  3. I understand you like it and don't mean anything about your tastes or likes personally it is some cool easy to do technology indeed. But you have to agree that wallet looks like something from Walmarts closeout section, the stitching, the machine marks and then a laser printed picture from some computer image program. It just is nothing I would want on my stuff it makes it look cheaply made IMO i wouldn't want my name on it.
  4. amazing what a guy can do without a computer, a special cad drawing app, a 3d printer........
  5. not to mention a couple paring knives for the kitchen lol or even a full set.
  6. yes if it fits the center hole would be very easy to do i don't think it will have to be a very large or deep scribe line to be easily seen.
  7. Thanks Fredk i think I'm gonna do some experimenting, I was planning on trying to cast some stamps in brass but that is really time consuming i can only do wet sand casting at the moment and am not even good at that lol.
  8. i was thinking a stud the size of your middle hole through a piece of scrap wood or plastic then screw a sharp screw through it to act as a scribe at the desired length, turn it over stick it in the hole of your jig and turn it to scribe the line for your perfectly centered target.
  9. yea i know full well i would have to sell a bazillion knives to recoup. Don't tell the wife lol.
  10. very cool tool! if you could find a way to add circles or a circle like a target scribed into the plastic at what ever intervals you want for hole spacing you could do away with the tape. I love the K.i.s.s. method of making functional tools. Thank you for posting this.
  11. very cool what product do you use for casting the letters? How much abuse does it take before you need to make new copies?
  12. great first knife ida kept it lol. as a display model of course.
  13. lol nothin like jumpin in with both feet.
  14. and the leather tools section, Plenty of goodies that you can make yourself lol.
  15. Don't worry friend you will have plenty of help here to make it as painless as possible LOL.
  16. lol that's how I started and glad i had my mind fixed so i could change it. Matching holsters, matching belts, it doesn't end.
  17. thanks! yes it would, but you will want a long gradual taper anyway no matter how far up the blade you carry it so chalk it up to a good piece to practice on. Knowledge gained is never a waste of time.
  18. i would use a flat grind or at least a partial flat grind of at the least 3/4 inch from the edge. a full distal taper , tapered from tip to haft and spine to edge will be basically just a full flat grind as the handle and blade are shaped differently than a regular knife but it sure sounds cool lol. Round knives rarely cut over 1/4 inch thick materials so what you do past that point doesn't mean much not so with knives built for other purposes. Here is a nice skiver i made a while back chisel grind for right hand use. I find myself making more tools than leather projects if I'm not careful lol.
