  1. because you can cut off an ear tag a steal the cow sn also what Bruce said.
  2. omg those are some expensive plugs lol. But I'll bet parts for a new tractor would be just as expensive or even much more. Old iron is worth every penny and minute you put into it. I just spent 2500 on a new electrical service for my house, a tree fell many years ago and bent the mast so the power lines were rubbing on my eaves. I have been without the ability to do much with electrical tools this summer so my knife making has suffered as well as my leather work. Our garden escaped a frost last night but any day we will be done gardening. AS fred says you can flush it and if it isnt leaking your good to go. My old burb is ready for hunting season but my camper is in need of repair. the front window has been leaking and has destroyed the wood frame, i have the skin peeled off now and todays chore is to rebuild the frame them reattach the skin. A yeesh I didn't know that.
  3. thank you both and I'm glad you like them and they are working out for you guys. i made one for myself also lol they do perform pretty darn nicely.
  4. we will harvest the seeds if they reach maturity, first frost could be any day now. Th garbanzo beans/ chic peas are awesome they make a nice crunchy snack.
  5. baked garbanzo beans!!! drain em, pat dry, coat with olive oil add your favorite spices and bake on a cookie sheet until crunchy. I like creole seasoning on mine.
  6. its the same in the western stores. all mass produced and very little leather.
  7. our sunflowers finally bloomed they must be 12 feet tall.
  8. lol do you remember being able to buy m80's and cherry bombs at the fireworks stand as a kid? our mortar was a piece of pipe buried about two feet into the ground with a pop can full of sand as the ammo, we would drop in the m80 then the can then run like heck because the pipe was pretty much straight up.
  9. non custom I put my price on it just like the stores do. if someone doesn't buy I say have a nice day thanks for looking. Custom orders when cost comes up i usually say it depends on what you want it to look like, plain , tooled, hand sewn, machine sewn etc., I feel it gives them an idea of what goes into the making of a product and a way to judge the difference in workmanship. If they try i can get it cheaper thing then i usually say then please go buy it there I'm not going to lower my standards or waste my time making cheap products.
  10. Hello there! and welcome to the forum. You make some nice stuff!!
  11. We fired our boilers with coal at the prison, the coal piles had to be constantly monitored for hot spots especially after rain or snow. I've seen them catch in sub zero weather. I've thrown my share of bales as well lol. Then graduated to pulling slips and throwing chain on an oil rig man life was exciting when i was young. As for spontaneous combustion i managed to survive an actual blowout one time, when we got the well shut in the whole rig from the crown to ground was covered in 6 inches of gas infused drilling mud. it looked like brown soda pop foam there was so much gas bubbling out of it and one spark would have been the end of me and four others.
  12. lol I didn't catch that oh yea the Duke and Clint are my absolute favorite actors of all time.
  13. I'll probably watch all three of them lol. Clints hatband is widely copied by folks.
  14. duh i was thinking gas on the piezo ignitors don't mind me I'm old i doubt they would work reliably on pyrodex.
  15. man that sounds really cool. I'm thinking like Fred estes rocket ignitors only take 4 aa batteries from what i remember. piezo ignitors can be bought also or scavenged off of old barbeques. we used to use them for our potatoe guns lol.
  16. you may have to convert to mm to find the right size. i found 2 1/4" https://woodworker.com/3x4-12-aluminum-oxide-80-grit-spiral-band-mssu-126-221.asp
  17. i have an old leather bullet pouch it was made by using one piece for the front back and bottom with the sides sewn in. That would be plenty strong to hold a battery in 10 oz. as the weak point is the seam which wouldn't have pressure on it being a side panel and not the bottom panel.
  18. me before coffee. very nice work!!!
  19. over shoes were the thing!!! replaced by throw away moon boots lol. i wonder if a pair of those still exist?
  20. As a boy i did too it was the norm. School shoes were only wore to school and church last years shoes were worn for play or work. I still have good shoes I wear on occasions but I don't take nearly the care I should with my every day stuff. It amazes me at how much society and its values have changed in my life. Early on In grade school we would line up every morning for inspection, Hair combed, teeth brushed, shirts tucked in, shoes polished. Could you imagine if a school tried that now a days back then it was part of our education.
