  1. As a boy i did too it was the norm. School shoes were only wore to school and church last years shoes were worn for play or work. I still have good shoes I wear on occasions but I don't take nearly the care I should with my every day stuff. It amazes me at how much society and its values have changed in my life. Early on In grade school we would line up every morning for inspection, Hair combed, teeth brushed, shirts tucked in, shoes polished. Could you imagine if a school tried that now a days back then it was part of our education.
  2. Its your turn now you better plant my friend summer is coming. Feed the bees!
  3. My dad born in 1924 kept his shoes and leather goods immaculate as well, didn't wear them in the rain didn't wear them in the mud, if he did get them dirty he washed and polished them weekly. Anyone remember galoshes? I am not the same, i never have been, my leather boots look like crap haven't used galoshes since i was a kid. How many people do you know who still polishes their shoes routinely? My point, leather scuffs and stays scuffed if you don't take care of it. My opine is the majority of people just don't take the time to care for their possessions any more heck most don't even comb their hair daily, me included. leather is leather it doesn't scuff or scratch itself.
  4. If thats a pic of your card holder lets see you cut out your pattern with a clicker press just like the one at the chain store. You then sew it on a machine just like the one at the chain store. Then you add some BS story so people will think you did something extra special to sell it for more than its worth? That's not marketing. Both your last two threads are about BSing the customer. That is unethical business IMO sorry.
  5. i love fresh dill, it really makes a sandwich pop. We grew a bunch of herbs this year so we should be good for a couple years. the dill is about 5' tall and we are hoping to get a bunch of seed from it also. Man we have sage, basil, thyme, rosemary, cumin, cilantro, lavender, mint, mustard and probably a couple i cant remember lol. We went to the river and foraged some black currents, rose hips and wild mint which we dried and make an awesome tea blend for the coming winter.
  6. you nailed it, that looks really nice.
  7. i pray for you and your family, that you don't have to live with outcome some of us have suffered. I am so glad your wife is doing well. I try to think of an uplifting thought to add but i lost my dad to cancer when i was about 27, Chemo was pretty new then so i hope they have come a very very very long way in the treatment. Take care my friend and may god bless you and yours.
  8. Think of it this way, a coin is more valuable when its double struck.
  9. And here its been a very cool summer the warm weather plants in our garden are stunted and not producing much. On the bright side the cool weather plants have thrived lol. the next two months are busy for us harvesting and hunting. the first frost is about two weeks away. the tall plants in the second pic are cumin, dill, and mustard, we have harvested over three pounds of dill, which would cost in the store about $ 80.00 a pound. we use it to can the pickled foods. oops the first picture is the herbs
  10. In this case no solvent or fix would have worked the parts were pressed in and probably crimped.
  11. i use it all the time on metal and then use it for vinegaroon lol. IMO its one of the best natural products i have ever used for a number of uses.
  12. That could very well be the case. lol I'll try too. No p from me!! He's on some drugs of some kind I'll bet. I wont say it was the vax but...… who knows what they put in his. Every day another young healthy athlete dies of heart problems.
  13. cutting a pattern backwards so the rough side is out. cutting my thread just a couple inches short. I could do this for daze lol.
  14. yup straight vinegar is one of the best and cheapest, forget the baking soda. I just finished our storm windows by soaking paper towels in vinegar and sticking them on the glass for about ten minutes then scrubbed with a copper pad. it out did the CLR product 100 times over and far less then half the cost. i used it on the electric switches in my 75 Mgb just threw them in the vinegar for a day and blew them out with air, they work like brand new. Just don't leave it for a week in your wifes good canner if there is a chip in the enamel lol. we use it in our clothes too. It has its place in the world.
  15. Awesome work!! and welcome to forum.
  16. make a hand puppet to scare the cat with lol.
  17. I'll add if you pull your stitches tight and pound them they will set down into the leather without a groove and wont wear. I do any and all of the above whenever I feel its appropriate to what I want my work to look like. I even use different stitching sometimes lol. Its a big wonderful world folks live to the fullest and don't be boxed in by artificial norms. But I don't use a stitching wheel with a set of chisels its redundant so there is no need to worry if the numbers match.
  18. It looks great!! how did you figure the thickness of the axe?
