  1. that's thinking it out my friend those are very cool looking belts.
  2. LMAO!!! hey even the instructions say it can be used to remove any waste thats wedged in your tool.
  3. I think its so their bits don't get hot and hang up and break off and they can also clean up the hole during the manufacturing process.
  4. cardboard has been used for years as liner for manufactured leather work, right or wrong. I wouldn't think a bag in that price range would have it in it however.
  5. my only guess is that if they used thicker leather they would have to use two thicknesses which would increase cost in their product instead they use one thickness and add layers of crap. Matching color is also a possible reason.
  6. Absolutely! someone took the time to save those, they tell a story.
  7. the inmates where i worked used to melt down styro-foam cups and make shivs/shanks. yes they only need to work once. you would be surprised how sharp they can get. their easiest one was just melting a razor blade into a tooth brush handle Yours is much more refined lol.
  8. You need to preserve it not restore it. Its very cool i would make a replica if your intent was to use it, and display the old one its a relic.
  9. welcome !! you may be giving more advice than getting lol your work is really nice.
  10. those are soooo cool my friend, i would love to have one. Man it makes me miss my old Jeep and a couple of other old trucks i used to own. so much character in those old vehicles that new junk just doesn't provide lol. breakfast of champions!!! smothered with syrup!!! oh yea
  11. im for one retention strap and a belt loop.
  12. i like the design and your work, a guy could wear it cross-draw. he's gonna have hell with that snap behind his back.
  13. I call that a good start. it works for the job intended.
  14. thanks for that info on the wires. A dc generator would be nice too.
  15. i had to laugh yesterday i went to The local tractor supply to get some feed. First thing i saw was scalloped belt hanging on the rack.
  16. the Wright brothers, Thomas Edison and Steve Wozniak all saved a alot of money too! Saying just throw some money at it isn't that easy for some folks that have much more free time than they do free money. Spending 200 bucks isn't free any way you look at the subject so no need to argue that point. Now if a guy considers his personal time as money then with that thinking just buy the damn sewing machine already to go, why waste time buying a servo.
  17. maybe if you have any small meat processing plants or wild game processors businesses, or friends that hunt, in your area they may be able to help you out. the biggest pieces are along the back and usually trimmed out.
  18. interesting! I'm going to have to check some of the new stuff out i guess. I don't use it much anymore. I have some real stuff i collect during hunting season if i need it.
  19. its about time you showed back up. beautiful work as always!! doing well in school i hope.
  20. it doesn't appear to be real snake skin to me the patterns appear to regular and there are no seams between pieces. Are you sure it not just embossed leather?
  21. Simply use the time you waste every day, its free too. You could also look at it as taking a class in engineering, what would that cost? From my perspective its also free education so a double win.
  22. i did a short search yesterday and only found one manufacturer of artificial sinew. They are in the US, my guess is most re-sellers even the native Americans in Canada sell the same stuff made by the same company. Artificial sinew is made to be pulled apart and used just as the real sinew was also pulled apart for different sizes of thread so getting sinew that doesn't have that property is going to be hard. Native American used real sinew for everything from backing on bows, cordage, to sewing baby mocs as well so it was separated to the size as needed for the particular project. artificial sinew is also made so it can be separated.
