@FRANKPKNY Suggest you post this in Fabrication - Leather Sewing Machines. Add photos and describe what material you are trying to sew.

Yes for my 2700, which from what I see is basically the same as the 2750. Using 207 on the top is for appearance only. For stitch strength, it's no stronger then the weakest thread.

Where do I purchase these hinges? (Juki LU-563)

I have used 138 in the bobbin and 207 on the top. Looks pretty good.

@bmertbilal Some information is available for powdered aniline dyes in this thread. Aniline dyes may be soluble in water, alcohol or petroleum type solvents. Check the mfg's information for each. A number of aniline dyes are used in woodworking and are applied before the finish is applied. Aniline dyes for wood should be safe for leather when obtained as a powder. Some info from Wood Magazine here. RIT powdered aniline dyes are available off Amazon, eBay and other places. This should give you options that work without alcohol, and a lot more choices than ecoflow.

I would ask about return policy under the current COVID restrictions. You need to be able to try it out. I have a 2700 (from Ron a few years ago) and it works well for me. I don't do lots of sewing, it is sporadic depending on what projects I pick up. Only problems I have were made by me and I was able to sort them out. I've done a little sewing most of my life, so am not really intimidated by sewing machines. I'm also mechanically minded and willing to jump into most things to try out or fix. The main thing with a sewing machine is to be able to adjust tension with changes in the leather thickness and hardness. It can take a half hour or so to get it right. You need 2 or 3 needle sizes, to match your thread sizes and stiffness of your leather. If you are always working with the same material you don't need to keep adjusting tension, etc. and life is a little easier.

These are fairly old and were probably lost during a server crash. Most were able to be restored, but some were not able to be. These aren't from 3rd party hosting.
-
This is what happens with 3rd party hosting when the host changes policies, goes out of business, or the original poster deletes, or moves his photos, or his account is closedd. This is why we ask everyone to post on this site, not to link to a 3rd party. Just to be sure this is the problem you are seeing, reply here with a link to a couple examples you see.

@Techsew Ron Looks like you need to let people know your current hours and what services are available.

Walking foot machine Versus a zipper!
Northmount replied to HayleyMcJenno's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
@HayleyMcJenno Moved your post to leather sewing machines. Some additional information could help with getting you some answers that are more specific to the machine you are trying to work with. Give us the make and model and a picture or 2 of the feet, side view most important, front view may help too. -
You are right, missed it in the title!

Video: Possible Schärf-Fix 2000 Alternative?
Northmount replied to Daniel G's topic in Leather Tools
Sorry I missed this long ago. I just tried it on some upholstery leather. Had to saw back and forth. Might work a lot better if I put a new sharp blade in it. Also stretched a little, though that might again be due to needing to replace or sharpen the blade. -

With the blade adjusted flat you can split straps too. Can do a couple passes if necessary to get the width you need. Instead of using razor blades, use a wider and thicker blade like from a box cutter. Can even sharpen and strop it. Makes a big difference. Lots of choice of steel types in Olfa cutters. I'll attach a photo of the Chinese one. Would be easy to duplicate and adjust blade angles and roller diameters.

100% agreed!

Here is a thread about a cheap Chinese skiver/paring tool. The photos are gone from some of the links so I guess I need to take a photo of it to add to this post. https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/66080-video-possible-schärf-fix-2000-alternative/?tab=comments#comment-468011

@bklnthor Please read the rules for the marketplace and comply. You need to post prices at the very minimum. https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/

If you are most always sewing slow, the needle positioning doesn't do a lot for you. Does more for production shops sewing at high speeds.

Nice job again Stewart

I cloned this for my own use. Works really well for skiving the edges of veg tan leathers. I also purchased a cheap Chinese made unit that just won't work for me although they have videos showing how easy it works.

Want can a Brother LS3 C51-050B sew?
Northmount replied to whitakermk's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Max thread size will be the same on all these. 138. Needle system 135x17 conical point or 135x16 leather point. Max thickness 3/8". If you read closely the parts are interchangeable between these clones and Singer. Adjustments similar on each. If you are intending to sew leather you want a servo motor and a speed reducing pulley set so you can go slow enough. I have a Techsew 2700, basically the same machine, just a little newer clone. Works well, they are good machines. Tom
