New To Forum Amsterdammer With Pfaff 34-6Constabulary replied to amateursewing's topic in Leather Sewing Machines I have a German Pfaff 134 manual - basically same machine but with rotary hook instead oaf CB hook AFAIK. Or look for a Singer 31K32 / 31-32 manual - that should be pretty much the same machine Maybe you can post some pictures of your machine so we can ID how the machine is setup and if it is possible to install standard feet (depend on the presser foot bar) Pfaff 133 134.pdf

Important Customs news for UK/Eu leatherworkersConstabulary replied to fredk's topic in Marketing and Advertising Talked to some tax consultants over here - they all recommend to no longer ship to the UK just because it would cause too much trouble (especially for small businesses) if something does not fully match the new UK regulations and they seem to be (yet) not fully clear. F.i. handmade items made from foreign (3rd country) raw material or antiques / collectibles form 3rd party countries (thats what I asked for). 2nd info I heard of (not confirmed) items shipped from the EU are tax free ONLY when they have a proof of origin that proves the items are made in the EU otherwise tax and vat may apply. So yeah - at this point I think it´s better to no longer ship to the UK until they have cleared up everything but honestly I guess that will never be the case - just too many uncertainties. Does not sound like smart deal.

No problems but in any case you want to bring the roller as close to the needle as possible. In best case use a straight stitch needle plate and matching feed dog. A ZZ NP as shown the picture is not ideal - it was just to give a sample for the conversion. What information are you looking for? Basic information about the class can be found when looking up the 47w. The 68 describes a subclass / how the machines is equipped. Looks like the 68 subclass is a drop feed straight stitch machine. Parts list says it has a reverse feed - wondering how it works. If you don´t mind please open a new thread and show some good detailed pictures of your machine. Maybe we can merge some information for the future.

Important Customs news for UK/Eu leatherworkersConstabulary replied to fredk's topic in Marketing and Advertising Really? I hope they come up with some proper information soon. "Best" information I found so far came from the DHL Express website (German only) but nothing else yet. https://www.dhl.de/de/geschaeftskunden/express/infos-knowhow/brexit-special.html (At the moment) I guess it will require a commercial invoice and / or a custom declaration form. But either side will neither charge VAT nor custom fees of any kind. Even the UK Customs website does not show an update with an "after deal date". https://www.gov.uk/guidance/get-your-eu-business-ready-from-1-january-2021

Important Customs news for UK/Eu leatherworkersConstabulary replied to fredk's topic in Marketing and Advertising I´m not certain of what is going on now? Looks like no import fees / tax / vat added but custom papers required... or not? But I´m not really sure how to act if someone order from the UK. Meanwhile most parcels service no longer take packages for the UK (except UPS afaik) but that seems to be because of the new Virus pattern... Weird times...

Binder attachment for Seiko CW-8B?Constabulary replied to Richardadofo's topic in Leather Sewing Machines Seiko CW-8 is using the same binder parts as Singer 153w or Consew 227 and the like A Google forum search may give you some good info: https://www.google.com/search?q=cylinder+binder+site:leatherworker.net/forum/ hope it at least gives you some ideas.

Whats different that no synchronizer fits? I guess no threaded hole on the end of the shaft? If there is no hole you have to drill one and tap a thread or make an adapter that can be mounted to the pulley

Gritzner Frobana Outsole MachineConstabulary replied to alexitbe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines Sharon - sorry but your pictures do not help much. They are to small and do not show the details well enough. Please post pictures from all side - better too many than too few. Or maybe you can post a video of how you thread the machine and start sewing. Have you tried what I wrote? I think you need to wrap the thread around the tension wheel one more time.
-
Gritzner Frobana Outsole MachineConstabulary replied to alexitbe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines The tension unit works with friction and not with discs. Meaning the tension spring puts pressure on the tension wheel and increases the friction. Looks like your thread needs to be wrapped around the tension wheel one more time. Please post more pictures of your machine

In case you do not find a manual - I have attached a Singer 143w ( ZZ machine, yours is a straight stitcher) manual cause your machine has some similarities in terms of top thread tension unit and stitch length adjustment. Looks like even the hook is the same. So you can use 107w / 143w bobbins. I´m not sure but maybe you can even use the 107w / 143 needle plate, feet and feed dogs (haven't studied the 150w parts list yet) Hope it helps If you don´t mind please post some more pictures of your machine (backside, underside...) EDIT: I´m not sure but looks like your needle plate is missing. EDIT II: No - 107w / 143w feed dogs are different. Singer 143w 143K3 143G3.pdf

TOTALLY BUMMED OUT!! CANT GET A COBRA Class 26!Constabulary replied to KennethLee's topic in Leather Sewing Machines Let me get this straight - don`t they have the machines or do they not ship out the machines? We have a lock down over here too until January 10th but you can order online and I´m sure any sewing machine dealer here would ship out the machine by freight forwarder. Postal services and logistics are system relevant. It may work slower atm but I´m sure they all will deliver. Toledo Sewing Machines is not toooo far way from you as it seems - I´m sure you can find a way to get a machine from them one or the other way. Google Maps - Lexinghton, KY -> Toledo Sewing Machines

Pendulum effect. Same as on patcher machines and most machines with needle feed (except BUSMC #6 for instance). Very basic explanation: The needle bar is "hanging" on a pivot point and the needle penetrates the material in an angle and the thicker the material gets the closer the material comes to the pivot point and the shorter the stitch length becomes. The BUSMC #6 (and similar) are an exceptions because the needle bar is always vertical and needle goes straight into the material and not in an angle.

are you sure its an 31w and not a 31K
-
yes you can but you cannot use single needle feet. The current setup has to stick with the mounted feet. Just remove 1 needle and if you have to save the and 2nd hook I´d remove the entire hook but leave the gears as is. I think you can convert it to a full single needle 1245 machine but that requires new parts and moving the hook saddle and gears but to be honest I haven´t done this yet but I think it´s possible.

Singer 111G155 bobbin adjustment screw set solidConstabulary replied to chrisash's topic in Leather Sewing Machines Maybe gummed up screw thread. I´d try to apply some heat with a heat gun or small gas blow torch. Tension maybe loose because lint has accumulated under the tension spring or a spring has a worn grove.

Sewing machine models for carpet binding/auto upholsteryConstabulary replied to Rachal's topic in Leather Sewing Machines I would look for a used Pfaff 145 / 545 - you get some fair priced after market synchronized binder sets for these machines. You of course may need a different binder depending on your binding tape and material you want to use. Just a quick google search sample: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/33004211228.html Lot at this video from min. 7:10 and onward - they are using a 545 (I guess) with a synchronized binder setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n43gf0EHUU8 There are other machine brands too that can do the same work but finding parts for the Pfaff in terms of synchronized edge binding is easy and fairly cheap.
-
Are you aware of how patcher machines are working and how they feed the material? Question is is it the right machine for the work you want to do.
-
Have you checked the manual for your machine? At the end there often is a section for mechanics and adjusters. If you don´t have one I have attached it here: Singer 153w 1 54w101.pdf
-
maybe you can explain your problem. Sewing machines often have similarities across the brands so smaller issues often can be solved by "looking over the fence"

Trying to convert singer 45k76 to self feeding sewing machineConstabulary replied to Bow's topic in Leather Sewing Machines I´m not sure if dedicated darning machines have the drive shaft for the feeding mechanism. Maybe you can post some good clear pictures of your machine from all side and with removed shuttle hook and needle plate and from the underside of the machine. So we can try to figure if it is possible at all.
