  1. CB3200 Machine Labels - Cheat Sheets Now that I am old, it has become easier and easier to forget some of my machine settings between uses. I find myself wasting time looking things up that I should remember and I don't see the situation getting any better. I created these labels from the Cowboy CB3200 manual, tips I have learned over time on setting thread tension, and some needle/thread/thickness recommendations from WizCrafts over at leatherworker.net, printed them on a clear inkjet label sheet, and affixed them to my machine. Now all of the information needed to match the needle and thread to the material thickness, to determine which direction in which to insert and thread the needle and bobbin, and to adjust the tension is right on the sewing machine. Following are a couple of pictures of the labels on the machine and here is a pdf file of the labels that you can download and use to print your own. Hope this helps. Michael
  2. I just ordered this little tool... we'll see how it works. http://www.perfecttrimruler.com/
  3. I've been using Beiler's Manufacturing and Supply. Their 1.5" stainless buckle is number 12039. They are an Amish company and do not have a web presence. I mailed for their catalogue and mail in my orders. They are quick to ship and friendly on the phone as well. They have great tools and dyes as well. Prices are very competitive. Basically, you mail them the order and then they call you with the shipping costs and take your credit card over the phone. Main Office: Beiler's Manufacturing and Supply 3025 Harvest Drive Ronks, PA 17572 717-768-0174 bus 717-768-0097 fax
  4. Gorgeous work...! You set a standard worth striving to achieve.
  5. Maybe I'll name my CB3200 Mongo. Love mine!
  6. Nice! You wouldn't happen to have photos of the backsides would you?
  7. I didn't like all of the paper being discarded and started looking for another solution. My stain station now consists of a couple of pieces of Dupont Corian salvaged from a countertop that was being torn out (one is long for belts and the other rectangular for wallets and smaller pieces). It is non-porous, is impervious to acetone, lacquer thinner, and alcohol, and wipes up cleanly. Most of my projects get Fiebings Pro Oil Stain and Resolene (although lately I've just been using Sno-Seal as a protective coat).
  8. I get very similar results as Toolster and can dial in the tension on anything from sunbrella to 3/8" thick leather laminations. I always back off both upper tensions and then turn them up 1/2 turn at a time until the knot finds its way into the center of the material. I use Wiz's info below: Another thing that I do is always wrap the thread 1.5 times around the lower tension so that the thread exits the tensioner next to the faceplate rather than away from the faceplate.... and don't forget to run the thread through the last hole in the bottom of the needlebar. Hope that helps, Mike www.conceptleather.blogspot.com
  9. Bob, I didn't think of just flipping it over. And yes, getting it all supported without removing the head had me concerned. Not being all that familiar with the machine, I didn't want to take too much apart. Thanks for chiming in. Michael
  10. Due to space restraints, I went with the stand. I had to modify the stand so that I could still use a chair which worked with my desk, my table, and my drawing board. The pedals are not in the right place for a chair so I had to redesign them and move the post that supports the machine closer to my chair. It works great for me now. I posted a tutorial on my blog about it if you are interested.
  11. Like it a lot... simple... effective...
  12. You ain't right, man...!!! and I mean that as a compliment. Your website is gruesome and gives me the chills... so, another compliment. I'm............. outta here
  13. I've had great luck with Goods Japan and usually get my orders within a couple of weeks. Got one tool with a green stained wood handle... weird. I've also had excellent luck with: Beilier’s Manufacturing and Supply 3025 Harvest Drive Ronks, PA 17572 They don't have a website, so you have to call (717-768-0174) or fax (717-768-0097) or mail the order. You can call or fax them and they will send an extensive catalogue with pricing... good pricing, and fast shipping. Their customer service is also excellent. I think they are Amish, thus the lack of a website. They have name brand and their own brand tools. I've purchased their punches and they are excellent. They also have the best price on Fiebings Professional Oil Dye that I've found, but they don't carry all of the colors. You name it, they've got it. Michael
  14. Read This Thread by WizCrafts... Then come back and ask any specific questions that weren't answered in the thread. I'll bet it answers most of your questions... it did mine. No one machine can do it all, so your first task is to decide what you'll be sewing with it and the budget you are willing to allocate. I ended up purchasing a Cowboy 3200 from Ryan at Neel's Saddlery... great service, great guy. It will sew anything from Sunbrella to 1/2" thickness in leather. Most folks end up buying their machines from Ryan, Bob at Toledo, Steve at Cobra, and Ron at Techsew. They all advertise here on the forum and provide excellent product and customer service. Mike
  15. Is there a hole near the bottom of the needle bar just above the needle that you didn.t thread? I missed that once and got breaking thread and nests. It was like the machine had lost its mind for no reason.
  16. Excellent design, composition, and you're dead on with the rivets. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Love the corner detail!
  18. Exquisite detail... and cool bobber! Lacing is a very nicely done as well. How did you achieve the two-tone?
  19. Excellent work and great idea with the pipe. I'd appreciate the drawings when you get them up.
  20. The needle looks huge for the thread size. I agree with previous posters... smaller needle or thicker thread.
  21. Thanks, but I was referring to the binding... looks great.
  22. Found this thread for the first time and most of the picture links are broken. What a drag. The pics that remain show some very good and interesting work. I hope you can fix the thread. Cool video btw... best I've seen...
