Threepersons Done!
plinkercases replied to Josh Ashman's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Very very nice thanks for posting. -
CAS ammo belts and slides also tend to sit the shells higher on the belt so they actaully have a portion of the shell above the top of the belt so you can slip your thumb in behind two shells at a time. The strip below helps ensure tue high seat. For any other range, hunting or non loading spead related discipline I think the rule generally is to seat the shell a firmly as is functional so loops or pockets alone can do the trick to the shooters personal preference.

1911 Holster
plinkercases replied to HamiltonLeather's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I understand they were a "good idea" gone wrong like introducing a new species of Asian lady bug here that was to eat aphides but are now a massive problem and they bite rather than fly away home... I think it is best when Man lets nature sort itself out. -

1911 Holster
plinkercases replied to HamiltonLeather's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Hard to tell but you may want to test it to see if that much leather so far up isn't also in danger of moving the safety or depressing the mag release.... learned both hose the hard way once or twice.. mostly with the mag release.... Draw - thud - crap..... Full combat grip while holstered was my other comment as well..... When patterning I always mark where the controls are and draw the space for the fingers (fat ones) on the grip. And every should have a 1911! or two or three.... -
what class Pfaff 145-H-3 BSN?
plinkercases replied to plinkercases's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have a Pfaff 335 walking foot cylinder bed with system 135-45 needles that will sew this capacity (3/8ths) and some have had it work ok with as high as 207 thread so if this has the same lift and needle system limitations then not sure why I would get another machine that doesn't give me more material and thread thickness. A next machine would be in the 7/8ths capacity and large needle/thread group of machines. Its 800 Canadian and looks to be in excellent shape.. they say it is tuned up and working very well.... If it was a C or D class I would go for it. -
what class Pfaff 145-H-3 BSN?
plinkercases replied to plinkercases's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Uwe i did consider but the foot lift is only 11mm based on the codes as far as I can tell and I am looking for more capacity in thickness, needle and thread size as i have a machine for the lighter end of the spectrum. -
what class Pfaff 145-H-3 BSN?

Fantastic. I found a post with almost all those codes except the S .... fabric.... so its a pass in this one thanks. -
I am trying to ascertain the actual class of machine (and thus capacity) I am looking at and the interweb isn't being helpful... the owner has told me its plate says 145-H-3 and the 3 letter below are BSN. I am asking for a clear picture of the plate as there are more digits after the H-3 which I don't know... as seen in this picture of the plate from another machine. I think BSN would mean it is a B class..? The picture of the machine is the actual one I am looking at.

I like the line attributed to Yogi Bara "In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice...there is." I absolutely agree that to continue learning something you think you know...teach it. And as Jeff aptly pointed out there is knowledge plus practice which sometimes will never equal someone with talent/gift/intuition or inspiration. This is true in the arts as well as the sciences as I have witnessed (and perhaps on a few rare occasions experienced myself) through my career in both. Before each take of a scene Jack Lemon used to say under his breath "Magic time." I have also witnessed engineers and architects and builders have magic time. I also believe sometimes we are touched by God...even those who don't believe.

You are an artist in both mediums! Looking forward to the finished piece. -
Harness leather....not sure where you will source it.

For a halter grab a halter from a friend who rides and likes the style (best if others do too) and use it for your pattern. For headstalls etc. I have the Tack pattern book and is alright but is western not English style tack.

Wow.. on the work and the EEE.EE wide lady foot. She must only wear custom to be truly comfortable.

I have been carrying my prototype for a front pocket EDC and receipt pouch organizer for months now... no time to move to the real piece BUT...the reason for the curve on mine...which has been continually adjusted over the last months to get a suitable and "universal" curve...is so the piece sits as far down and upright in the pocket. Compare this to my square wallet which I carry on the other pocket and it will always tip to a side and jam in the pocket. I am not sure about patenting the idea to make a pocket wallet match the profile of most pockets.... but this is my 2c on why the feature may exist. An after all this time I have decided all I need to do is swap the knife and light around to the unit is thinner at the edges. Works great though.

Air pods Sleeve !
plinkercases replied to Hahn's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
3 questions: 1- did you use a heated creaser iron? went by too quickly! 2- when the case is out do the seams collapse or stay butted edge to edge? 3- my sister wants to know what the music was? nice work thanks. -
While too far from you - I order from Harness Hardware - a Mennonite run hardware seller who will sell any qty and has price breaks for higher volumes. Rivets will likely always come in 100's but aren't that expensive. However, I also order some items from Aliexpress and have been satisfied there and they have 10 piece lots most of the time. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=AS_20180701041958&SearchText=rivets+for+leather Good luck
