  1. Are you still liking the cutter?
  2. I agree. Even though I'm not into them, I'm always looking for improvement in technique. I do like checking them out. I'm not into western carving either, but I like to see the pretty work.
  3. That looks great. So, kydex is strong enough to use little triangles like that? I didn't know it was that tough.
  4. I have seen skulls on this site, but I haven't really had any run ins with potty mouths. I don't mind the skulls. Leather is a big business for motorcyclists and they love skulls. Don't ask me why ( I have a motorcycle and don't care anything about skulls). At the end of the day it is art and art should be respected even when unappreciated. To each their own on the art topic, but there's no place for potty mouths.
  5. Hey, I resemble that remark.
  6. I have the craftool pro diamond awl. I haven't used any others but this one seems pretty great. I haven't even sharpened it much. It feels very comfy in my hand and doesn't seem to drag much. Also, you may want to.check out amazon and get a set of co link diamond chisels. At 15 bucks a set you can't go wrong. This is the set up I have been using. I like it just fine. Keep having fun.
  7. I can't offer much in critique. I haven't made a wallet yet, so I'll be following this for my own education. They look pretty good, but if it was me I would have continued the stitching around the outsides to give it a more completed appearance. Take that with a grain of salt, though. Keep having fun.
  8. I like the colors you got on it.
  9. I like how the bumps in the beveling create a carved wood look. It`s usually a critique but i think it adds a lot of rustic style to this piece. Great job.
  10. Hahaha, so, it is just a log. I enjoy your humor, Nigel.
  11. It reminds me of the mask Ogun wore in the original wolverine comic.
  12. Good job. Glad to see folks catering to us southpaws.
  13. Craftaid makes some large letter sets, but you're still gonna have to carve.
  14. So, I was showing some practice pieces on fb the other day and an old friend chimed in about his father. His father was a WWII veteran and the local carpenter in our small town. He was an excellent cook and just an all around nice man that didn't take any crap. The man's name was Jim Duvall. Well, according to his son he worked directly under Jack Tandy for a number of years. His son, Gary, told me that his father was quite the leather craftsman back in the day. I thought some of you might have known him. If you did, you probably consider yourself lucky (as I do) to have known him.
  15. That's certainly true. I also know some folks who just sit around watching YouTube on their tv. That seems pretty pointless to me. I use it as a tool in my toolbox.
  16. This reminds me of a story. Being a tradesman I'm always looking for improvement in different areas. I once ran a granite department and ran across a house being remodeled. We had to deliver different counters throughout a long drug out schedule. During this time I met this kid. He was maybe 22 or 23. I noticed his work on various parts of the project. He set the cabinets, installed the trim, did all the tile work (including some very impressive floor to raked ceiling showers). He did all the wood and tile floors. I kept thinking to myself, how does this kid know so much. Well, when He did the handrail on the entry staircase that was it I had to ask. I said, "man, I don't want to insult you but, how the hell did you learn all this stuff?" He pulled out his phone, and simply replied, "dude, YouTube". He went on to say as each thing came up, the owners asked him if he could do it? He researched the projects and let them know what tools he needed. Now, I know you have to have some raw talent to do that. And the kid was definitely smart. He made a career for himself off of frigging YouTube. Last time I ran into him he was running a crew for that same family as they bought and flipped homes. If properly applied, YouTube can be very useful.
  17. It looks perfect with that handle.
  18. Sweet. Thanks.
  19. Those are really pretty. You need a boutique place to put those. Or maybe some upscale hotels or even some bed & breakfasts. Welcome aboard.
  20. I haven't done a belt yet, but it's on my short list with a wallet.
