A friend asked if I could come up with a holster that he could take off/on easily when he needed to. I modified my pancake pattern yet another variant. Might make a couple of these for myself. Hermann Oak 7/8 veg tan Fiebings light brown pro dye with neatsfoot oil after drying Line 24 snaps Sewn on a Cobra class 3, 277 top and bottom, #24 needle. Wet-molded in my new vacuum rig. Thanks Adam's leather works, great video and parts list! So much cleaner! Resolene, water 50/50 2 coats

Ditto jls, I use his methods and have great results. One other thing I didn't see covered, watch going over the top of the cylinder. With softer leather it may not be too much of an issue, but with mine, 7/8 oz wet molded hermann oak it will lock that gun in like you wouldn't believe. You should also look at Adamsleatherwork on Youtube. That and jls' free instructions has helped me tremendously. -
Sorry I didn't see this sooner! 7/8 or heavier leather. Chisels are rated at more threads per inch than size. Look at Main threads, they can help with thread size and are a quality product

I gave a $5 tip for mine

I've done both as well, and have had good luck with each. Boning and forming can cause a difference in absorption, but that can be considered character to me. I have gone to using fiebings pro dyes, and like the results much better, and a lot less rub off. Still, use gloves or you'll have colored hands, helps eliminate fingernail mark's too. I use pure neats foot oil on my holsters and sheaths. I've heard of many using olive oil, but have never tried that myself.

Nice work. The holder is a nice touch as well.

Thank you, Hermann Oak 7/8 oz, fiebings light brown pro dye, cobra class 3 with 277 top and bottom. And the second holster molded in my new vacuum set up.

Yes, the you open the snaps and then put them behind your belt, back up, and snap in place. I've seen this type of attachment for IWBs, but not OWB.

Single Six Holster

Very nice. I wet mold mine to the gun as you did and have had no issues with retention with normal use. -

I had a guy ask if I could do a bolster that was easy off and on. I modified a pancake holster to a "snap on". I think it came out pretty good. I will shorten the left tab on future ones though.

New chest rig holster for Springfield XDm

I'm still trying to get the picture resizing thing down. Don't know why I have such a hard time with it. I use heavy 1 inch nylon strap to go around the chest with a click in buckle and adjustment on the right. In back I have a piece of of leather (slider) with 2 slots cut for the nylon across the bottom and another slot angled up to the left shoulder for the shoulder strap to go through. This I adjust to the person and set with Chicago screws. I usually set the slider to the nylon with with a Chicago screw as well to keep it from moving to the left and causing the strap to loosen. I have done close to a dozen of these so far. Hikers, backpackers, horse back riders, all like them because a pancake or other holsters get in the way. I just finished one for a S&W 686 in 357 mag 7 shot with a 4 inch barrel I want to get the pics up for. -
First piece completed! Hair on hide noseband

Great job! I took the plunge and bought a cobra class 3. What difference it makes. Could you put the bling on a separate piece of leather and sew it on. Might not hurt the structural (?) stitching that way. -
I finally got around to ordering a maker's mark stamp for Rainshadow Crafters, this is the name the wife and put on our work. I do leather and she makes handbags etc for ladies. I got it from leatherstampmaker.com and it is great. The detail on these are unbelievable. I showed it to the pro at the golf course I work at (I'm retired and literally work for free golf) and he asked about doing leather ball markers. I got back with leatherstampmaker.com and had a logo stamp made the size of a poker chip. He approved and off I went. He showed it to an affiliated club and now I do them for both. They are the same size so the one die cutter works for both. I also do card wallets and yardage book wallets with the logo on them.

Chest rig for a Glock 26
Hags replied to Hags's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks, I'd like to see how yours comes out. -
This is a chest rig I made for a friend of mine that does a lot of hiking. I made him a pancake holster for it using JLS 's method, but it doesn't work with a backpack. I took the same pattern I developed and changed it to have tabs for the connection points. He loves it and uses it often.

I've been around the site for a while but recently settled down and intend to get a bit more serious about my leatherwork. After getting over the travel bug after retiring, we settled here in Sequim and love it. Hope to post more and learn a lot from you folks..

I have a chance to buy an Adler 205-8. It says can sew up to 1 inch of leather. I am having a hard time finding any real data on this machine. Anybody know anything about these units? Thanks
