I get what your laying down about shipping. Always had good luck with Amazon and you. Others it can be a bit sketchy.lol That's why I don't like Ebay.

Thanks. I figured for $22 for both it was worth a shot and even have prime so free shipping.

I'm looking at getting these. I know they are just cheap knock off style. Wondering if anyone has tried the like. Doing belts by hand is worse than sewing them by hand. Got no problem finishing by hand/touching up but would like to save a little pain.lol

I have the same problem and wonder if it the cast on both sides are my issue. Maybe don't cast where the back stitching is? I will try that. Thinking out loud and rambling sorry.lol

Skill level will go way up by time your done. Will it be perfect? No.Will it be one of a kind that YOU did? Yes. When your level goes up again you can remake it again.Soaking leather never a good idea. While wet it will be soft. Once it dries it will be stiff and hard. Only way to get skill is to do. I make stuff just to learn. Wife kids and I have SO much stuff made with leather.lol. You can also check the motorcycle gear sub forum for more specialized question on bike gear. Also I just noticed the bags I thought was just the tank bible. Bags more leather but still a pattern with built in instructions. You might find your niche. Good luck wish had specific information to help.

Best bet is just to take it off and use as a pattern to make what you like. IMHO

Glue VS. Stitch
Mattsbagger replied to Pattern's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
In one of my Stohlman books he says to make sure your work is good and clean if taking it somewhere to have it machine stitched. So I guess it's an old idea that most don't think about anymore. A Sideline for you Jeff? Lol -
Glue VS. Stitch
Mattsbagger replied to Pattern's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Well that's 2 to 3 hrs each. Plus 1/2 each to punch the holes.lol -
It's not dye. It's called vinegroon. Many spellings. Do a search on it. It causes a chemical reaction to veg tan leather and turns it black.

If you punch with stitching chisel should only take 2 to 3 hrs. I did 2 belt this weekend. Hands and wrist a bit sore but doable.lol -

Search for a variable temp wood burner set 200 degrees f. Is as high as it needs to be. -

I get what your saying about chuncky. Had a guy ask to put a strap on a OWB pancake style. That was already finished. I declined. I think a lot of people don't understand how well formed stuff holds. I digress though. Nice work. Clean.
