Just wanted to see if you had any luck.

Curious, this is similar to a post from about 9 years ago, did you find a wallet then? I've done a few custom wallets with requested logos, problem is if the logo is copyrighted or not. Feel free to look over some of my work at the link in my profile or same name at Instagram.

How I now straighten leather for strap cutting
koreric75 replied to RockyAussie's topic in How Do I Do That?
This is awesome, but space prevents having one for now... so for now, a long straight edge and an expandable table makes it work -
I think you've found the closest dealer to you, and as far as price probably the lowest if you consider you'll need to pay shipping or make a drive otherwise. You might also consider service, unless you're planning on doing it yourself, take a weekend and make the trip up to Arlington and meet Alexander and the team at Solar, you can check out all the machines available and decide if there 3200 truly meets all your requirements.

Salamat po, Chief! I was stressing on this one as it had a personal touch, turns out my buddy gave me his boy's "levi's" size for the waist vs actual waist size so it came up a few inches too short...I'm going to try a buckle extender for the first time ever now as well...lol.

I downloaded, but don't have an lcr either...i may cut one out and get it ready and wait for a cheap mold gun to pop up

Some Recent Projects
koreric75 replied to koreric75's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thank you, I was not sure about it, but decided to cut the double shoulder right down the middle after i made all the straps i needed from it for other projects. I decided to make the binder piece from a separate part that had almost none rather than have the wrinkles go all the way through Thank you, these were for a tiny knife one of my customers recx from their daughter...i found it is a little harder when there is only about 3" fixed blade to make a sheath that isn't top heavy. Thank you, the plastic part of the case (white part) had holes in it already that used to attach to the leather with tiny rivets...i have another pic somewhere of the holes in the leather part to show, will post it up. The shave kit was made with and oil tanned side from Tandy, it was a little heavy but skiving the ends that stitch together near the zipper helped a lot. -
No, you're correct, my buddy had already stretched it and rubbed salt over it before i got it...it was dry and felt brittle when i got it so had to put it in the solution just to get it rehydrated before i could attack the membrane and flesh...hindsight being 20/20 he now knows in the future to give it to me first...lol

It's been awhile since i've posted pics, so figured i'd show off some of my recent projects from decembe

Finally got this skin into a project...I had to put it in the solution of glycerin and alcohol for almost two weeks, the first week when i pulled it out i noticed there was still quite a bit of flesh on the backside after it was rehydrated, so back in it went (same jar, just added a little more to cover it) and another week, now it's pliable and still amazingly strong for how thin it is. The work to get the membrane off the back is not fun, but definitely have to do it or it's going to rot.

agreed, i went with the same vendor for mine, as long as you don't mind the wait it's a quality product and Alex was great to work with...
-
Those both look great! You should put that design fella on the payroll...lol.. So are you going to share which vendor you went with...asking for a friend
-
dang it, knew i shoulda checked in here before turnin' in...I definitely agree on the chalky look..the belt straps I got were that same way...a quick buffing with sheep wool did wonders and made the black true...I used a little balm and tested a spot and it was even better so did the whole thing.

Shoulder holster questions
koreric75 replied to chiefjason's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
i have a nice gov issued rig for a 1911, it rides mid back and has quite a bit of room for adjustment...i'll try to get a pic to illustrate asap. Pics added below of rig, and a comparison of a leather i think would be good for making the shoulder straps, it's a horween side i got from @nstarleather I've used it for a couple messenger bags and straps and it is very soft/supple, but also quite tough and has the same feel as the straps for the holster (feel as in temper etc) the center piece doesn't have to be the plastic type here, a good piece of 8-10oz would work as well i think...lots of options out there tho. -
Small Arbor Press, worth anything?
koreric75 replied to WoodysWorkshop's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
dunno, but i like the way this one looks...660lbs should still be enough to get stamps etc a nice impression with a bigger working area...would be even better if it could be outfitted for snaps/rivets etc... http://www.grizzly.com/products/Grizzly-Lever-Press-Deep-Throated/T10049 -
now that is cool, i'd like to be able to heat mine other than by using an alcohol lamp or torch...
-
I got you, should be able to do that, the background would be the impression, would you have it textured or smooth? That would look pretty awesome!

Here's mine from @amleather (Alex Moreau) It took a long time to get here on the slow boat, but came out nice...I've hammered it quite a bit and also use it in the press with great results. The attached pic was the test impression he sent me before shipping out the stamp. Also attached is the proof after he worked up the design on the lettering to give a better impression...
