  1. kunpengsewingmachineparts-for-uk. chinese company selling hook parts on ebay
  2. Not sure where i can get a larger handwheel for my singer 111G155 already have a servo Jack which gives a good low speed and a larger handwheel would no doubt be sufficient Like the cost of a do it yourself kit but would prefer a commercial solution if at all possible Many thanks to both of you
  3. I cannot find them on their site or Techsew uk site As far as Google they just don't seem to exist or i am using the wrong search terms Constabulary gave me a lead a while ago with a German site but not sending to UK until brexit postage is sorted Postage from US makes it silly money Seems strange they are so badly sold, there must be a god demand for them in the UK Even Sew Europe does not have them
  4. Looking to buy either the stalk speed reducer or box type in the UK and having difficulty finding them form sale
  5. It had to happen, the only thing i could not check was under the hook as the three tiny screws were stuck Yesterday solved another problem and thought i had pulled the needle thread all out of the needle so gave it a spin to check all OK and jammed the hook with 138 bonded nylon I have the cheap small screwdriver kits but no way with them to apply and good pressure using them and after a good deal of searching i cannot find a right angle screwdriver that size of a good looking small driver kit with those loose heads and small ratchet handle Any ideas on how to loosen the screws, can only assume they may be locktighted
  6. $15 does not seem much for the hours the maker has invested into making both the design and video
  7. Would it not be easy to make using plywood
  8. Check the inner foot has not rotated a bit and hitting the outer foot
  9. There is also a US Navy repair instructions for the Singer 111W series that covers just about all you will ever need, there is a link on this forum somewhere
  10. There are a lot of people on here that though £75 for a leather belt was expensive, and spent many times that before they were happy with the one they made, after all a leather 38mm strap is only £12
  11. All I can add is that I doubt I would ever buy a Brown machine. Silver, grey, black then yes not fussy, but brown reminds me of those old government buildings and Victorian schools where they had a yellow top half to walls and a brown bottom half to hide any marks You don;t see many brown cars either must be something to do with the colour
  12. Is it not the case that any pricking tool or stitching iron/chisel can be used to just leave a mark, its just the pressure you apply that make the difference between marking or punching a hole, just like a scratch awl can mark or make holes
  13. You can spend $50 on a set of tools on Amazon which will do most things and also include some items you will never use, alternatively you can spend $50 on a top line tool that may last a lifetime especially if you decide never to continue with leather work Buy a cheap kit off amazon and learn the basics on the understanding that over time you will replace a lot of the items when your skill levels improve The old saying buy once etc can work out very expensive waste of money if you don't know what tools are better and or give up the new hobby after 3 months
  14. Your best bet would be to contact the maker who will have the best information
  15. Is this a new holster you have just made or a old one If old it may well have been treated with a coat of Resolene or similar sealant
  16. For short time use like making a wallet and gluing before stitching then any PVA glue will work just apply and add pressure, your woodworking pva will be fine For joints where you need the real strength then many of the contact glues like mentioned by Zuludog will do a good job if you follow the instructions. Note is gluing the grain side you need to roughen up the surface before applying the glue to get a good fix
  17. Whilst its good to have high ambitions you will need to be realistic, the leather workers in these factories have had probably 3-5 years apprenticeship with top master leather workers and then many years learning the trade. you will only know what tool is best for you when you have gained some experience and learnt the skills to be able to judge
  18. Abbey is a good place for workmans tools, that is tools that do the job without the fancy wood and price see https://www.abbeyengland.com/
  19. Whatever you chose remember it's the service that can make a huge difference, do they answer the phone and give great assistance, do they have good spares backup and so on. maybe your question should be "What make gives the best after care service " out of your chosen makers or " tell me your woes about the same makers" that might give better information.
  20. Watch a few of these video's by Joe https://www.youtube.com/c/JHLeather/videos
  21. Look up this company https://www.csosborne.com/, they make workman's tools, not fancy handles and prices
  22. Heavy weight canvas would make good cold wear pockets and also add a bit of design features either in the same colour or say tan pockets onto olive jacket
  23. Does anyone have permission from Tandy to give away copies of their copyright
