Don't spoil him, he is used to living in a bed space about 6'-6" x 3'x 2' so the empty space under your work table should be enough, If in Submarines let him hot bunk and save some more space. Unfortunately he will expect three hot meals prepared for him every day and leave the washing up to someone else

OK inserted in 3D Forum as Cura File, I will leave it to Adam to copy the Pulley file over as he originated it

It's strange the difference between the USA and UK and maybe a lot of Europe, in the US there seems to be a massive market for 441 clones for making Holsters and sheaths whilst over this side of the pond no real need for either so not a great need for the heavy machinery, unless working with horses etc making lighter machines more popular In the UK no handguns, licences shotguns and rifles and only allowed to carry knifes with a blade under 2.5 inches and even then you need a reason to carry it

Newbie query on lining billfold and making ID pocket
chrisash replied to PhilDimashq's topic in How Do I Do That?
Sorry a bit of confusion, with pricking irons, such a loose term, in the old days they just marked the leather and you then used a awl, now days many are designed to go right through the leather and called either pricking irons, stitching irons or stitching chisels, guess you are using the original pricking iron and awl, i was thinking more a stitching iron -
Straight or angled stitching iron? and question
chrisash replied to Whit30's topic in Sewing Leather
Its near impossible to compare french style irons to diamond point and all irons seem to have improved immensely over the last couple of years, with nearly all polished to a high degree. as with most things the difference between the high priced items, are sometimes hard to spot, after all there is only so much you can do when making 1-8 or more slits in leather, and hope to sell them -
Newbie query on lining billfold and making ID pocket

Instead of the awl, I just use the right hand needle in its place just to open up the back hole for the left needle to go in and then withdraw the right needle with the left following, after that cross the needle and insert the right one if you get the drift easy to do but not explain -
Hi all Adam gave me his 40 mm STL file and after many problems with warping the base, I eventually managed to get one made of Taulman 230 Nylon which turned out OK and the inside dia is 13.1 mm measured on one of those cheap micrometer scale things The good news is it only took 5 metres of filament so if people are interested they should be able to buy a cheap 10 meter sample, so save money on a whole roll The whole process took 6 hours as after the initial problems I modified Cora to run very slow, no fan and 100% infill of lines, I can send the Cura profile if anyone wants it, also used heated bed 45 deg and lots of PVA on the bed to stop the warping. Feel i can definitely increase the speed a lot from 25 to maybe 40 or 50 and reduce timescale a lot My JK513 should arrive tomorrow or Friday so will test over the weekend, but feels very strong

In the UK most people wear steel chain link glove, when they are using them to cut out fabric, as they give no mercy if you slip, happy to cut through about 20-30 layers of 9 oz poly cotton,. never heard of them being used on leather, but maybe in factories

For wallets eyc I use 3.38 mm size using 0.6 tiger thread and french style irons, but there is no set rule -

If it does what you want then it's a bargain, it's a poor mans Singer 29 which many find useful even though they have limitations on what it can do.Those who have them and have fine tuned them find them better than hand stitching and get reasonable results others seem to expect a higher quality than the price suggests and dont like them On average most seem to need a bit of tidying up when brought

Handbags is a vague term, they could be made of chrome leather or veg tan, small and delicate or large and heavy, Domestic heavy duty machines may sew up to 2-3 mm (including the joints) of chrome leather quite well but will not sew veg tan leather in most cases. for some bags you need to be able to sew in tight area's where a traditional flat bed cannot sew like tight gussets Most leather workers use industrial sewing machines that have the power to sew both types of leather, the upholstery type are common. if you look on Ebay under "industrial sewing machines" you will find typical ,machines Wiz does a superb outline of sewing machine requirements at

I think you would need a circuit board diagram to understand what part does what, sometimes in the back of manuals -
You need to look up antiquing leather on Youtube and also Tandy also do a video on the subject
