  1. Looks good.....I like the pockets as well. Is that 5-6 oz veg tan?
  2. Welcome.....I'm new here as well and learning a lot. Thanks for your service..
  3. Well done! That's a tough job there. That center piece would be a bugger to work around.
  4. LOL......well, you're absolutely right about being gorgeous. Nothing like working with 36 grit sand paper, but the end product speaks for itself. Thanks for the response and the information.
  5. They are commonly used with woodworking clamps.....I got these on Amazon. They aren't the heaviest duty, but for the purpose they will outlast me I'm sure....here's a link.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JPB8YCT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  6. Fantastic! Some lucky 1911 is going to be looking mighty fine in that regalia!
  7. Thanks everyone. It's appreciated!!!! It does seem to work well. It locks up tight in any position. Getting ready to stitch a belt so it'll get through the paces for sure. I still need to figure out where to put my little magnets. I tried them on the top of the jaws, but it was too easy to get things tangled. Again, the comments are appreciated!
  8. I think you'll like it. Not that you'd ever use any of those fancy adjustments...but it's nice to know they are there.
  9. Looks great! As mentioned above, that is one lucky dog!
  10. Thank you both very much. I was more concerned with construction technique than anything else on this one. I did learn a bit about dying/coloring.. I really had little or no control over the end product. I used Feibings Pro Dye in Lt Brown and Dk Brown and airbrushed the edges with the Dk Brown. The odd markings showed up after it was cased (or what I thought was cased, still trying to get a feel for that as well) for tooling. I thought it was ruined, but it turned out that the mistake just added character. I guess you just get lucky some times. I didn't deglaze before dying and that may have caused it, or the tap water I used caused the reaction. I'm not sure and definitely not sure how to control it, or do it again. The biggest thing I learned, is that I have a WHOLE LOT to learn. So again, thank you for the feedback.
