spring flowers and good food

an just a few diced jalapenos lol. gotta have my spice. oh yea the secret to good beans is day after!!! -
i use artist grade acrylics for painting. Decent brushes or air brush depending on the project. headshot i would leave the body and face natural, background a light tan slightly darker than the body then the hair dark brown. resist real well anything you don't want stained with the antique. Magnifying glasses and a steady hand!! Acrylics over stain but you need to realize some acrylic colors are translucent while others are opaque. If you use a translucent color then you will need a white underlayment over the stain.

Carving question
chuck123wapati replied to dikman's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
it still looks pretty darn good for a first try and it will look much better finished.... That's why i shade in my background with a pencil on the designs, it gives me the idea of how much negative space there is to tool. it also loses the thickness of the lines so you can see how thick or thin your carving will actually look to the eye. if you get tired shading it in then you have to much background to tool IMO and LOL. -

very cool old tractor!!! i love wrenchin on old iron i really wish i had the money to restore i would have a dozen projects lol. I just sold off my 75 mgb and a 68 jeep cj5 that i had way to much money and bloody knuckles in. If you make your own jellies or canned foods you gotta try jalapeno jelly or jalapeno bread and butter pickles. Those are my two additions to the pantry every year. Bread and butter jalapenos are the bees knees lol. -

used the charcoal grill last night for the first time this year. barbequed chicken. I would have taken pictures but they would have been almost obscene in how delicious they looked. I now believe one of my daughters ,19 , has perfected making barbeque sauce. It had to be as close to perfect as you can get and coupled with my wifes homemade potato salad made me eat waaaay to much lol. -

yes they appear to be the same but using a metal snap on the outer part. please let us know. -
i suggest sewing it, lose the rivets in this case. your understanding is correct.
-
So i have another holster to modify but on examining it i noticed this plastic button protector thing. Anyone seen them elsewhere they are a protector for the metal to metal contact. on snaps. i don't care for plastic much buts its a pretty cool invention. or is it just a plastic back piece for a rivet?
-
look at this picture , what do you see ? a row of stitches not 2mm from the bottom of the strap!!! you should have sewn the bottom there, with maybe a second row and sewn the top and been done with it. This isn't rocket science friend leather straps have been sewn on for thousands of years. any one of the suggestions will work they are from tried and true leather workers with years of experience. rivets will work in leather for some things but not all things and that is determined by the direction of the load on the rivet. the load has to be on the shank not on the heads if that makes sense. such as two pieces lapped together on a belt pulling from each end as compared to your strap which has the load pulling out against the heads. Using them as Fred and AL suggests changes that load factor, the load is attempting to pull the strap then down through the slot not out against the head of the rivet.

beautiful work indeed stick a diaper in it for his first father day!!lol

i used to make toe guards for my adult daughters skates( roller derby) and her team mates also, regular veg tan works perfect for that because you can wet form it nicely around the toe piece. don't go to thick i used 4oz for those.
