  1. have you tried gluing it then molding then sewing.
  2. you have only touched on the tip of the iceberg my friend. 5g isn't for us its for them!
  3. That's a group to be proud of!! my Beeman rs3 knock off and mil dot scope wont do that well but my Beeman p-17 pistol is darn accurate and has an awesome trigger that is better than most handguns. What is really nice about the cheap ammo, all the used pellets get turned into round balls for my BP pistol. I use little steel rams out doors with the rifle and indoors a ten meter pellet trap with the pistol.
  4. Back about 1985 i bought this old 67 beat up ford Bronco, it was the Ford version of a Jeep but it had the ford three speed tranny and the Ford 9" rear diff that was the standard hook up for Ford street rods back then. It came with a gutless 289 ci v8 so i figured a nice 351 ci Windsor would help out a bit in the power department. I.m not one for looks but i do fix all the mechanics lol and this old 351 was a brute out of an68 Merc. It made a real sleeper as they call them lol. One evening while out driving a close friend pulled up to me in his new Dodge Charger and his new girl friend,. He jokingly bumped the throttle once to ask for a race we both bumped the throttle twice to say ok then on three i downshifted and gave it to her when i shifted again back into third i was a half car length ahead my tires chirped and i was gone LOL. He pulled up to me at the next light " Damn that thing is fast" His gal was laughing and he didn't talk to me again for weeks never tried to race me again. Top end with 4:11 gears was only about 70 but it didn't take long to get there.
  5. Fun times indeed, reminds me of the old red neck saying "hold my beer and watch this!" lol sounds like my old Jeep, manual steering manual brakes meaning both feet if your over 50 mph. Wish i had an old Landy they are to cool. I love old iron!!
  6. True friends are hard to come by for sure you are a lucky man to have had such a good one. That's awesome work my friend!!! That is one cool air rifle, all i could ever afford was a cheapo beeman knock off .22 but i taught my kids to shoot with it and still shoot it at camp to keep the eyes sharp lol. A friend gave my a .20 cal silver streak last winter it has a beautiful walnut stock, better than most modern rifles have. Not many air gunners around here, its cheaper and easier to buy a firearm.
  7. With three pieces of leather that thing has more stitches than Frankenstein's Bu** lol, that took some work. my self i would sew it on the same as any belt loop on that type of holster along the top and along the bottom or maybe even a rectangle about 1 3/4" wide x whatever length of the back piece don't let the shape throw you.
  8. I wouldn't use nuts if its not lined. sew it on.
  9. lol yea the section on making your own fireworks could come in handy, seriously though there is a lot of good info that is still relevant. Some of it is just fun to read. What i find interesting is people used to be treated like they were smart enough to take care of themselves now a days we need an "expert" to tell us what to do.
  10. LOL that's a great one!!! i remember getting the new "monkey wards' book was like the prelude to Christmas lol. to tell you the truth i live in a town( my home town) with three hardware stores and the worlds smallest Walmart. Next town is 110 miles away so if it isn't here I'm in the same boat as my dad was 50 years ago, in fact now that i think about it dad had more places to shop lol. One good thing , at least it doesn't take all day shopping for things in ten minutes you can hit all three and now days they all carry the same crap. And that in a nutshell is why some of my leather tools are homemade from old bolts.
  11. oh yea that old gal has it going for sure, she showed so much knowledge in just a few minutes, I'll bet her "toolers" get a work out every day she doesn't seem to be the kind to fool around much , did you notice how fast and easy she ran that swivel knife and the rest of her team as well just getting after it, i could almost smell the leather in that place. The show was on PBS here for a long time it has some really cool episodes i think about four seasons.
  12. i still have buckets of bolts and nuts my dad saved off of old vehicles he scraped and nails from my grand dad lol. Grand dad died in the 70s dad in 85. Its easy to forget they lived in a time when money wasn't so easy to make.
  13. yea you will find personal safety missing in most of the old books. how ever i did find a warning about fumes of mercury in the amalgamation of gold recipe lol. a guy needs to take proper precautions and some of this stuff may not even be possible to buy.
  14. What i like are all the episodes no matter the craft are full of inspiration to do what you love to the best of your ability. yup a catapult used spring type tension from wound ropes whereas the treb used free falling weight as a the driving force and threw the stone basically like a slingshot. they have pumpkin tossing tournaments in the US using these old things.
  15. just watched this episode on saddle making its friggin awesome you will learn how to use round knife in two seconds.
  16. it has a ton of recipes for almost every thing , from art like jappaning . cleaning , metals, paints and varnishes, glass, laundry soaps and household stuff a section called home chemists guide lol.. Really a cool little book. I love collecting and reading books about making stuff. There is so much lost knowledge out there in books that will be forever lost to the www. here is an on topic subject for you.
  17. lol here's one of those old things not be wasted, Knowledge!!! 1935 edition
  18. i have elk tallow i rendered over 20 years ago, its still good , not rancid at all i use it for my Black powder wads.
  19. very cool! Are these for air rifle pellets?
  20. my dad was a mechanic, grew up on ranches, he would spend a big portion of his summer weekends and after work going out to the ranches and fixing up their haying machines and equipment most had nice shops with about every type tool you would need. I used to love to go along and watch him and help out. You would be surprised how many things you can fix with a simple nail lol.
  21. two i repeat two regular zip lock sammich bags lol. inside a dry bag. However here there is little to no cell service in our mountains so its kind of moot to tote one along, how did we ever survive?
  22. you guys will love this series. true craftsmen do still exist.
  23. yeesh good luck, Found this info it is a start however i would be hesitant to soak a 1000 phone in the lake. ive done a lot of kayaking, my phone goes in two bright orange water proof bags that float and i don't take it out until I'm on dry land lol. any way these are milspec and as close to water proof as you can get. https://www.androidauthority.com/mil-std-810g-rating-1017646/ Some day they will make a camera with a phone in it.
  24. why use a dozen different products when this is time proven, over a 100 years, petroleum or not it has been tested in battle on leather and metal and it works. and in the U.S. its much less expensive than bees wax olive oil New age BS sustainable climate change my ass products that were replaced by it a hundred years ago. Sorry folks I don't believe in new age buzz words as a sales gimmick.
