  2. yup! we've been many a mile together. I reconditioned all the leather about a year ago
  3. Damn that water is coooold in the spring time up high !!!! LOL
  4. here ya go it has my sluice and three pans it would be super easy for any good leather worker to add more pockets or just strap loops on the outside for more stuff, its an internal frame and is tougher than nails!
  5. might look at these https://www.pcsoutdoors.com/ausablebrandtrappershardwoodveneerpackbasket20.aspx or this https://loadup.com/swiss-salt-pepper-rucksack-backpack-large.html or this https://www.armysurplusworld.com/new-us-gi-duffle-bag-genuine-us-military-surplus-duffel My claim was about a mile from any road with just a game trail, my setup worked well. I have the salt and pepper rucksack it is a tank and will hold up for years if you want i can put my pans and one of my small sluices and shoot in it and shoot some pics so you can tell if it would work.
  6. if you are doing a lot you should consider a cheap drill press and drill your holes with a drill bit, many folks do that, when set up its much faster and a lot easier. 2mm hole punches are hard to clear because of their small size more than anything.
  7. now that bacon is about 10 bucks a pound i will be making and smoking my own again too, I use the butt roast and or the loin they both make fine bacon saw a fresh side at the store the other day almost 100 bucks for it.
  8. oh yea we smoke all our bigger trout. make summer sausage, cheese, old school smoker lol
  9. we never did either missed some fine eating. lol crawdads are the same price as shrimp here sometimes more. As soon as the river goes down we are going to get a few lol. Th trout and walleys love em too my best lure is a mini craw trout hit em with a vengeance.
  10. A brisket here is going for aver 50 bucks now days its getting so i cant afford even the cheap cuts lol. We usually get a few elk every year and that is our main staple of meat. I corn some of it though man it makes some delish corned beast. Summer in full swing and we are loving the greens. Love those Nachos my wife makes me a nacho cake for my Bday lol, its a super everything on it piled high cookie sheet full of nachoey gooey goodness. I admit we eat some junk food but we use all good fresh goodies on it lol advocado, homemade salsa, fresh tomatoes lettuce. green chiles yummmm. Have you ever made your corn tacos this way? Heat a skillet with a smidge of oil, throw in your fresh uncooked corn tortilla, add your cooked meat and cheese, salsa and let it fry a minute or so then fold it over the meat and cheese before it gets to crunchy, flip it and brown both sides till crunchy. They are so friggin good cooked that way. I ve been cooking in the yard after dark a lot its in the 90s here now lol. Cant wait to see how your build goes hope you can afford the fuel now lol.
  11. i was thinkin something along the lines of Skynard LOL.
  12. i don't do chrome tan so cant offer any advise as to the different types and dye retention but you may need to be more specific to get a good answer, getting something superficially wet from a sudden rain storm is much different than say a collar for a Labrador retriever that may swim in it for hours. you may try perusing the adult section for answers.
  13. i agree totally and use the first to practice ALL of what you are going to do on the finish piece before you make another mistake. I have made two things many times LOL.
  14. Thanks Frodo i can see it would be a good thing to do with off cuts.
  15. lol thank you very much! i thinking its was complete friggin moron, lol I have actually been called that by people locked up behind cell doors. I could run wide open with a certified mental freak title
  16. LOL take your pick! I like the one on allacronyms. https://www.acronymfinder.com/CFM.html https://www.allacronyms.com/CFM
  17. i used to use an older (70S era) back pack frame it had a metal bar on the bottom that folded down to support a sleeping bag i would tie on my sluice box first then load it up inside with odds and ends then. use the straps across the sluice box to tie on my bucket and anything that didn't fit in the sluice box. I also was thinking of a design similar to a ww1 model 1910 haversack which you could adapt to an external frame, their design makes them well suited for many different loads but they are small. you would need to design a larger size and i would suggest heavy canvas over leather as it is lighter and dries easier.
  18. what does the CFM mean under our name now? i cant send private messages either?
  19. amazing work !!! I am so intrigued by your board game it is the coolest thing.
  20. sounds to me like it was a meeting all three of you needed. It always amazes me how he works, you never see it happening or know why you just feel it. Beautiful story my friend. things you make don't have to be made perfect, to be seen as perfect. a person never really knows what an impact they make in the world until they get a a tiny glimpse as you did, kindness and a smile freely given are never wasted.
  21. that is the coolest thing ever!!!!! Man i knew gas was high but I didn't think folks would resort to driving goats.
  22. Most of the tools i buy are old/used , i buy from eBay as well as garage sales auctions etc. or i make my own. there is a guy on here that sells old tools also. i think he has a blog page here.
