  1. Even Tandy before Amazon!
  2. The only use I have found for veg tan sheep is lining holsters and other small projects. Sheep skin is too prone to tearing. It has no structural density. In plain terms, it's flimsy.
  3. No, sheep doesn't have the density to hold up. And I don't know of ANY veg tan that has the flexibility for moccasins. Brain tan bison or moose would be my first choice. After that, chrome tan bison, elk or moose. Horse makes good moccasins as well.
  4. POIDH =“Pics Or It Didn’t Happen” It's an abstract theory that some people subscribe to.
  5. Flawless execution of the art.
  6. I don't mind them, they add character, like scars and brands. But I won't pay top dollar for sides like that either. At $255, I'd send it back or demand a hefty discount. I'd also tell them that THEY can eat the shipping back.
  7. The selection I offer is black, brown, neutral/natural. I don't play color games.
  8. You never want to 'slather' anything with NFO. I would clean it with a quality saddle soap, then if it is still dry, a very light wipe of NFO might be in order. Or a quality reconditioner.

  10. As long as you do it the same EVERY time, your stitches will be consistent. As to the 'zig-zag' , 'saw tooth' effect, I've never had any of my stitching look like that in 30+ years.
  11. As long as I'm not carving it, I love working brands and scars. That's character!
  12. Great job! I agree on the flap, that point will curl out.
  13. I really like this finish from Bee Natural. I have used their line of products for years. From my work boots to my buckskins and most of my leather projects. This particular one is quite similar to Fiebing's Leather Balm, but without the 'bubble' issue. Leather Finish - 8oz (beenaturalleathercare.com)
  14. PRESTO! Good looking sheaths!
  15. My phone always takes BIG pics. I end up sending to my computer and going from there.
  16. Are the pics too big? If so, edit them in paint; RESIZE
  17. ANY edger will do that radius. You don't need a special tool for that.
  18. I make these to put muzzleloader ammo in. This one is for .45 cal, but they can be made for any size. We put these in our shooting bags, but you can add a wing at the neck for a thong to tie to your belt. Cut out the two pieces, sew them up, soak them for 15-25 seconds then pack with unpopped popcorn or sand. Empty it out and let dry. It takes longer to dry than it takes to make.
  19. I tool, dye (dye and antique are NOT the same thing), apply a light coat of oil, then on to resist (if antiquing) or final finish. That's for any project. Depending on your choice of finish, that may be the only time you CAN oil it. Resolene and other plastic finishes won't let the oil penetrate.
  20. +1 on the Ron's tool. I use it on the linings of holsters.
  21. Knowing it is coming doesn't make it any easier when the day comes. As someone that has lost close to 100 dogs through the years, it never gets any easier. You have my condolences.
  22. I use waxed linen in 3, 4, and 5 ply. MM wise I have no idea, but it's the only tread I use.
  23. I would also take it a bit PAST 90 to allow for the inevitable 'relaxation' that comes after release.
  24. With one of ???????????
