  1. I also use the side cutter method for double capped rivets. Otherwise, I will drill out the head with a drill bit after center punching. Typically one side of the rivet is not exposed and if you remove the rivet from that side, even if you leave a few marks, it won't be seen.
  2. It all depends on what you are making. I have more than a dozen hole punches of various sizes. including the rotary punch tools. Can't say that I have used them all, but have used 4 or 5 of them on the buscadero gun belt rig I am currently working on. I don't think any of mine are Osborne punches. Some are from Tandy, others from Weaver, and I think one set was originally used to punch out rubber gaskets. They all work beautifully on leather...as long as they are sharp.
  3. Now I understand. Thanks for sharing the pics. Sorry you had so much trouble. Glad you were able to fix it, not toss it.
  4. email sent.
  5. okay. That makes sense. Thanks for letting me know.
  6. Thanks! Can you give an example of use if not to hold together items for stitching?
  7. Others will know for sure, but I would guess 277 thread with a 25 needle.
  8. Welcome to the forum from SW Missouri. Since you have been lurking, I am sure you have seen the number of posts about sewing machines. Make sure you post pics of your projects and/or your issues that arise with the machines. More than plenty will jump to your aid.
  9. that's pretty cool. Live long and prosper...oh, wait, that's a quote from Star Trek
  10. following. Would it work well for machine sewing and not having to use glue?
  11. Beautiful...no end to the use of leather.
  12. Very classy. Clean lines and stitching. Well done.
  13. Thanks! My late wife helped me pen that. That's a great idea. Love the unique bubble wrap. I bet it does add color. I have a couple "lucky" bills in my wallet. Following Dad's footsteps.
  14. Buck knives always put in a little slip of paper explaining a bit about their company and their beliefs. I have kind of adopted it and include this in mine.
  15. @Northmount can help you out. He is one of the moderators.

  17. Ha ha . I knew an old guy, oh yeah, he was old...he helped us out on the farm when I was a kid. Anytime anything mechanical or electrical would give him fits, he would pull out his trusty hammer and give the thing a few taps. Generally, whatever wasn't working would begin working as it should. Glad it was an easy fix.
  18. Great advice for the novice carver. but like @JLSleathersaid....GIT good leather. I don't know why I struggled so much with carving on the import leather until I got some Hermann Oak. Made a world of difference. My method of casing leather is simply running a damp sponge over it several times, then waiting 2-3 minutes before starting. On a larger piece, I may case it multiple times as I go, depending on how long it takes me to carve.
  19. Welcome to the forum! Stick around a bit, share some of your projects. Ask questions to improve your knowledge of leatherworking. I applaud your effort of trying to sell your product, but because it is your first and only post, it comes off as kind of spammish.
