Been working on building my portfolio of things I can make and have patterns for as I start down the path of making this craft a part time job. It has been fun to create my own designs and figure out seam allowances. I’ve got a couple small wallets, field notes cover, boxes, dopp bag, shotgun shell holder, purses, radio straps w/pouch, glove holder and still to come is a small clutch bag, messenger bag, duffle bag. Anything else I should add to my list.

Hey! I'm trying to make my first shoulder rig. My brother-in-law has asked me for a setup for a double 1911 shoulder holster with thumb break and to make things more difficult, he wants the holsters detachable to wear on his belt. I can do OWB and IWB all day but wrapping my mind around making a pattern for this request has me blanking out. Can anyone help me out?

I have been visiting craft breweries with a leather growler holder that I designed and getting approached by the brewmaster about where they could get one. Some of the brewmasters even asked for some to sell on consignment or to design with their company logo. I made a few more leather growler holders but found the process too time consuming as I do have a day job! So I put up the pattern for sale on Etsy (Leather Growler Holder on Etsy (link)). Do think this is a good idea? I have personally bought other patterns, and my hope is that more people will create and sell patterns like this. -Will https://www.etsy.com/shop/willspatterns

A few months ago I bought the Tandy western style shoulder holster pattern - love it! Thanks for the help via the forum on finding it. But, now have a son in the military going into a professional tactical training career - and a neighbor who is a detective wanting a more modern version of a shoulder holster for work. They both liked the western style which lead to "Oh, can you make me one for my glock... with clip holder, cuff holder, laser...." Mine look like Doc Holiday! I did have a makeshift pattern for a tactical shoulder holster but old computer died and I can't find the one I printed out and taped together - it's been about two years since I made one. Anyway - they both want holster on right - clip holder on left, and officer wants a cuff holder. I can combine everything but am in need of the harness pattern. If anyone can point me towards a pattern I can purchase it would be appreciated. I'm going to start building one from scrap pieces today - but would love a pattern to look over as well. Here's the style shown in a few pictures - thanks - Kent

Does anyone have the pattern pack number for a Tandy Pack? I need to buy the correct pack that includes a western shoulder holster pattern for a customer. None of the Tandy Pattern packs I have includes a western style version - not the modern semi pistol - aka tactical version. If somebody knows which Pack Item number I need to buy I would appreciate it. - Thanks - Kent

Hello, does anyone know where I can find a good fanny pack/hip purse pattern. I'm curious as to what may be out there. Hoping for one with a couple pockets on the outside and maybe a zipper pouch inside. I seem to have a lack of vision today and can't seem to design one I like. I attached a photo of kind what I'm going for. Any help would be grateful!

This is a really easy project where the result far exceeds the effort, IMHO. I couldn't find other examples of carving a crocodile pattern on this site (or anywhere on the net for that matter) and so am reposting this from the Show Off section in the hope of (a) helping someone who is looking for some ideas to snazz up the basic belt design and (b) to build up karma credits. This is a 1" wide pattern that will work with 1.25" - 1.5" belts once you add borders. But you can easily modify these dimensions by either shrinking or stretching the image to suit your needs. Or heck, just draw your own. Not much to it really. The belt on the left was finished using Fiebing's Tan Antique Finish which I mixed with a splash of Dark Red Oil Dye. The antique finish does a great job of highlighting the carved lines and tooling impressions. Surprisingly, however, the carving and tooling looks just as good without the aid of antique highlighting as shown in the solid black example (Fiebing's Oil Dye). Just guessing that with such a basic pattern and where all the cuts and impressions are deep that it holds its own regardless of the finish. Seems like there's no way to screw up on this one. I think you can get by with any finish you want. EDIT: I just remembered that for the belt on the left with the mahogany finish I first painted a resist stripe down the middle using Super Sheen, then applied the antique finish. That's gives it a fade look. I also hit it with black on the borders using an airbrush. If you don't have an airbrush, get one. They are super easy to use. Just like painting with a can of spray paint. Easy easy easy.

Hi. Recently, there was a sale at a store i used a few times to buy supplies for leather crafts. This trip, i bought ( pardon my explenation ) a plastic sheet with tracer lines on that you wet the leather and then apply it on top, roll it down so it leaves marks in the leather, and then you swivel cut it. These are called a number of things, but stencil or tracers i am guessing is closest. I live in Sweden, and i have had little to no luck in finding more of these. Now.. a few questions. 1: Are there any special store that sell these that are of good quality and a wide arrange of patterns? 2: Can you send a picture of a custom made pattern somewhere and get it created as a plastic tracer to be re-used as many times as you want? 3: Are there any other "newer" version or better ways of transfering patterns to leather to be cut in besides this? I cannot draw for the life of me, so i really have use of these. Here is a bag i made with this Oak leaf pattern i traced with first and then cut in. I´m still learning for the record.

I am planning on making a breast collar for my 4-H project this year. I made one last year but it was a very simple style. I want something with a little bit more flare this year and I cannot seem to find a single pattern on a different style of breast collar.

Hey Folks, I have started creating a template for quick & easy mockups of ideas, and just added a few stamps at random. I'll have to inventory & add the ones I have, but in the meantime I have made the template public. Anyone can view, but you'll need to have a gmail account so you can copy into your account & edit. https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1to5e_FX7RnWwzFGXz6jGsBmVG56h90aIFTvhzOTnzTg/edit?usp=sharing The really convenient thing about google draw is that if you want to keep making copies, you just hold down control while you drag the stamp, and just drag it to where you want it to go. Along the way it will show where it alligns with the centers & edges of other objects in the drawing. What you see in the template now only took a minute or two or clicking around. I'm willing to entertain requests for stamps to add to the template if you give a link to the stamp you want, but no promise on my turnaround time. For anyone interested in adding stamps on their own copies, I've been creating these from vendor images by using the program Gimp, which is similar to photoshop but free. In Gimp, I add a transparent alpha channel, select the stamp area I want to keep with a 5 pixel "feathered" edge, invert the selection, and cut out the excess. Some refining is necessary on stamps that aren't a perfect square, rectangle, or cirlcle. I then crop to the stamp area I wish to keep, export to .png format, and add to the template. For simple stamps, it only takes about a minute. For the 3d stamp in the template, it took maybe 3 or 4 minutes. For carving, I haven't tried this yet, but I figure line art created in the template might work a bit, or uploads of drawing, I don't think those would work as well as the stamps do since the stamps are actual images of stamped leather. Here's the link, fope it proves useful!

Hello everyone. I'm currently trying to make a sporran but I would like to have some inner organization in lieu of a black hole. the idea that I have in my head is to make a pocket similar in shape and size to that of regular t-shirts. So far, the best I've come up with is the design in the attached pictures but I'm still not too happy with it. Wondering if anyone can give me some pointers as to how improve the pattern and get rid of the exposed edges or if anyone already has a pattern they are willing to share with me. Thank you in advance

Hey y'all! A family member has asked me to reupholster her wheelchair with tooled leather. On the back she wants a log with four children sitting on it, facing away, so we see their backs. She wants them to have angel wings and the log to have a branch coming off it with four leaves, one for each child's name. I'm a decent drawer, but this is beyond me. The children need to be sized according to age: 11, 9, 6, and 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
