Second ya on this hobby not being cheap anymore .leather prices going through the roof. the picture could be better.not seeing much details..what I can see is you did well on the wet forming and boning, the edges look like they been burnished, the design is cool but the carving went shallow when wet formed..there is not much you can do about it.. I dont care muchfor the finish.but that couldbe the picture...all in all this is good work for a first timer!! Jimbob

cool seat, but black...szzzzz...ohhh well, all these super details u had in that face are somewhat lost....BUT, the customer always gets what he wants....kinda like my wife!!!! The shaped wooden form is cool but soon u will have to make different seats and shapes so making a form for each will not be economical! Most all of us tool flat and then form and shape. I have tooled on ready moled leather right on the seat,,,,but there was NO foam involved....so called hard ass chopper seats... You have great talent in tooling, so try to do different seats and shapes and soon you will be on your way...nice work. Jimbob

I use also a metal hammer....and every so often I grind of the edges/mushrooming, so it wont be an safety issue.

How Do You Store Big Pieces Of Cased Leather?
Jimbob replied to Bob Blea's topic in How Do I Do That?
dont worry about mold....your leather has enough tanning acid in it to withstand it for weeks....just keep it under plastic or like one said in a large zipper or taped plastic bag and u can keep it for days just as wet as you like....your discoloration is mostlikly oxidation from steel or metal....I have keppt my damp leather for days just under an old shoping bag and all is well !!! Underbust Holster In Action
Jimbob replied to ReneeCanady's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I can see the bust clearly.....but still looking for the holster......am I busted...?? James -
That pulling it back for two stitches and then sewing over it sounds good...never done that...hmmm never to old to learn...in my older days always turned the item 180 and sewn over the end point....now I have two fancy Adlers with reverse ( love 'em ) and just do the reverse lever...cool. But all described ways should work the same way...>> locking the stitch! Jimbob

most likly just a few thin layers of leather laquer, so it will act as layers of skin....the ink will penetrate the leather but will not submege to the surface to smear,,,,!!!

Nail ya a thin metal horse shoe piece on your outer boot heels....ya hear da cowboys coming a mile away....I used to do that on my biker boots....that made the chicks look too....heheheee...sounds even better with the loose spur wheels and jingle bobba majingis...!! Jimbob
