I'm going to have to go against the grain here . . . that leather is 1/4 of an inch thick . . . which in my opinion is not thin leather. Bending it over to go into a buckle while it is dry can cause the front to crack . . . and then you are in deep doo doo . . . might as well toss the collar if the front face of the leather cracks in the bend where the buckle goes. For all my belts and stuff like that . . . I do not bend it until I dye it . . . it is really wet then and will bend without any possibility of cracking. Just my way of doing things that prevents problems down the road . . . and 1/4 inch leather on a dog collar will not stretch enough to make any kind of difference . . . so just pass up any worry about it stretching. I actually have one here at the house . . . it was my mom's . . . and may have belonged to my grandmother . . . I don't know for sure. It only has one drawer on each side . . . and the center drawer for all the attachments is still there . . . attachments gone . . . but their home stayed. I learned to sew on the thing . . . mom gave it to me after she got her electric machine . . . I put an aftermarket motor on it . . . sewed a bunch of stuff with it. It's going to my niece . . . I'm 78 . . . starting to part things out so I make sure someone who will care for it . . . gets it. She's a sweetheart . . . just got engaged . . . Anyway . . . have fun with your invention . . . looks like a lot of fun to be had there. My next tool I'll be making will probably be a 60 inch sheet metal brake. May God bless, Dwight

I would probably leave a note on the kitchen stove "Be back soon" . . . go to the lumber yard . . . buy replacement flooring . . . and get on the phone finding someone to replace it . . . or get the chop saw and saw horses out. That would be my plan . . . although you might try some gasoline . . . a very little bit of it . . . but it might do the trick. May God bless, Dwight

TomE and I walk down the same street on this. The blotches somehow are associated with needing an application of neatsfoot oil . . . and that will eliminate about 99% of that blotchy stuff. . . AND . . . it can help with the wrinkles. But if you want to somehow get to zero defects in the product . . . you need to give up on leather . . . go to vinyl . . . leather will always have little defects here and there . . . and most can be worked around so the customer never notices it . . . but that is YOUR part of what has to be done. A really thorough inspection of the leather to be used will take care of most of that. May God bless, Dwight

Looks good . . . I'm too conservative to ever wear that . . . but there are customers who would stand in line for one like it. And I'm sure if the sewing machine would do that on sport coat material . . . it would do it on light weight leather. May God bless, Dwight

Stunning is my first thought . . . beautiful is my second . . . I am also partial to the contrasting stitching . . . something I do as much as I can on the projects I do. My only detrimental comment would be the suicide strap . . . a personal note is I hate em . . . do my best to talk the new owner into a thumb break But the strap does look good on it . . . I gave up on pig skin a long time ago . . . use veg tan for the liner . . . cut both pieces from the same pattern . . . glue em both together with contact cement . . . then sand all the edges with a belt sander . . . bevel both edges . . . burnish it all . . . Best way I have found to do em . . . May God bless, Dwight

On ebay there seems to be a couple of interesting laser machines for about 225 bucks. The supposedly engrave stone, metal, wood, leather, etc. Some have adjustable heads . . . some don't. Some seem to advertse 40 watts while another in the same price range is only 0.5 watts. I want to get one . . . but don't want if possible to wind up with a white elephant . . . been down that road too many times. Any upfront advice would be greatly appreciated. May God bless, Dwight

I put a servo motor on a Singer 155 a number of years ago . . . then sold it as it was not what I needed at the time. Loved sewing with it though. My Cowboy 4500 has a servo . . . came out of Toledo Sales . . . one of the advertisers here . . . he'll do you right . . . never had a problem dealing with them. May God bless, Dwight

What I always do is go to the other end of the strap . . . I generally use 3/4 inch for the strap . . . and at the other end I punch two 5/8 inch oblong holes. Thread the strap thru the holes . . . and you can tug one end or the other to lengthen or shorten. I've done this especially for those who prefer a suicide strap on their weapon instead of a thumb break. May God bless, Dwight
