  1. Good idea! And, the speed is probably right where you want it.
  2. I just tried that, and couldn't figure out where it all went! You have to go to the home page, or it just searches the present thread...I forgot that. So, on the upper left of the screen, just below "forums", click on home, and search arbor press, or stamp press, you'll get all the threads. Jeff
  3. There is a lot if info on this subject on the forum, use the search function and it'll take you to the threads.
  4. A little addition to a Hairglove, an accessory to keep the ladies braid under control while cruising the highways and byways on the Harley...or whatever. After all the knife sheaths for the club...got this request from a GIB. (Girl-in-back, carryover from my years driving a tandem seat airplane).
  5. Thanks! But yours doesn't have a smooth round area, so you're good to go. It may have helped if mine was a little thicker, too, for more weight, but the "suction" area around the makers stamp is the problem area. Physics, darn it!
  6. Whatever you decide on, I'd certainly try it on an inconspicuous part of the sofa first! And, have plenty of ventilation if you use deglazer or acetone. Ya gotta love spell-check, the suggestion for replacement of deglazer was "gladder".
  7. Wasn't exactly sure what that subject line was going to lead me to...looks good! I think the antiquing looks great. Coasters can be a learning experience. I made this one as a kind of "calling card", then discovered that when the bottom of the glass gets wet...it causes the coaster to get picked up with the coaster! So every other one I've made had some texture on the whole surface. Gotta love unexpected results!
  8. Beautiful! And I'm right there with you on the saddle tan. My go-to color lately.
  9. Tags are words that can bring people to your post, say you were asking about a holster, carved leather and airbrushed...you would use the tags "holster" "carved" and "airbrushed". Welcome to the forum! There's an unbelievable amount of info here, and people glad to share. I spent almost 20 years in Michigan (Lansing), it's all yours!
  10. Think about all the inside-the-waistband holsters you see on here with fancy tooling, etc....don't worry about what will or will not be seen in use. It's all about what is seen between uses!
  11. The empty acorn is at a right angle to the ones with the nut still in...doesn't look right. Other than that...looks good to me.
  12. That may be. The only motors I have experience with are Dental equipment. Straight, smooth arbor, the cones tap on and have a left and a right. Nice thing is that they are two speed. The low is just about right for burnishing. Still trying to find one that some dentist is through with...I have 133 days to get it done, then I retire, and my dental connections are kaput. And I'm alright with that!
  13. Now THAT is impressive! I'm ready to go out and get a panama hat. I clicked on the link and said "WOW", the trophy wife also said that, and she isn't that into holsters. She has one, she likes it, she's done. (I have NO idea what that must be like!)
  14. Note that there are right hand spindles and left hand spindles. If you use the wrong one, instead of tightening under load, it runs off and shoots across the floor!!!
  15. I use a Pasche also. I wish I had a dedicated place for the airbrushing. If I have to do it in the garage, I have to move my truck out. If it's not windy or raining I do it just outside the side door of the garage. I just remembered that someone always asks to see the blades... Yes, the one on the right has crinkle paint. Ugh.
  16. how'd you get the dye to match the cigars?
  17. Two more...one is "almost just like" the first two, the last is because the guy wanted two, and I thought I'd try out the new airbrush. Hey, he should have been more specific. The airbrushed one is actually my trophy wife's fave. Once again, the "club colors" of the VFW Warriors club are black and yellow... you guessed, right? The pic shows the nasty-a$$ed sheaths they knives came with, and my "new and improved" sheaths. Keeping in mind that the blades didn't really deserve any more than the aforementioned N-A sheaths shown.
  18. Reminds me of the sheaths I've been doing lately. Kind of like a bum in a tuxedo. But like you said, it's what they wanted! I like the double stitching, that alone outshone the knife...
  19. Lucky dogs! It's a shame they don't realize what nice accessories they have! I'm sure it's just a collar to them. That's how I feel when I do a collar, it's for the owner, actually! And I know they appreciate the extra time and care that went into them. I really have to bite the bullet and make a lined one, I've been putting it off to long. Thanks for showing us your collars!
  20. Thanks for the tips, guys! I did shake the heck out of it, and it seemed pretty "soupy", and the leather was just a bit damp, as I'd heard that tip before. One final coat going on this AM. I'll get to Michael's or the local art store before I try paint again though!
  21. Just tried Cova Color for the first time. What an experience...and not in a good way. First coat, pathetic coverage, second, coat, pretty much the same. I had hoped to cover the bare spots with a fresh coat after first dried, nope, same areas with no coverage. Checked in to this thread to see if I'd missed something. Once again, I fell for the "can get it locally" trap. Maybe if I let it dry for TWO days, then try to get it to cover, I'll have better luck. I was hoping to not have to count on luck, though.
